And today's weather

Nasty thunderstorms were predicted for today, but around 7:00pm, things didn't look so bad. 



And then after we got out of the store....

It got a bit dark...


And darker! Well, not THIS dark, as the camera just said, oh, light clouds, less time on the shot, but it looked cool. The two little lights below are a car headed our way, but the clouds were dark!


However, after one or two big bangs of thunder, some rain (but nothing torrential), the sky lightened. The flash made it come out orange, although it wasn't that deep shade, but again, cool effect shot through some bushes.

As long as lightning doesn't strike the house, or a microburst doesn't take out the yard - had both happen twice. Love good t-storms.

That sounds like our morning here in PA. Hubby went out to check weather and yelled that we should probably shut the windows "right now" because a severe storm was coming in "like, minutes". I looked outside and it was just a bit cloudy. Within 5 minutes it was pitch black and pouring rain, loud, long thunder and some pretty flashy lightening. It lasted about 1/2 hour and we got an inch of rain. It was so dark, the dogs thought it was night time and wanted to go to bed.

Oooh, I"d like to see one of those storms. We were hoping for stuff like that while out in Michigan, but blah, the weather was instead, nice!

I LOVE storms as long as they aren't too windy. Our house is in the center of 62 tall Oak trees and I am always scared they will blow over. I also don't like too much lightening for the same reason. We are supposed to be in for more tonight!

That color of sky reminds me of my time growing up in Mississippi. The sky always turned some strange colors before/after severe thunderstorms.

I've always love thunderstorms, even though sometimes they brought destruction. There's something about the power of it and the fact that we have absolutely no control over it that always awes me.

I actually like thunder, lightning and rain at night, when I'm inside. The only storms I've actually liked being out in were in Queensland or Hawaii, where it's hot and you dry off in the space of five minutes!

Yeah, but we really didn't get all that much rain, alas... sorta good I suppose considering no one mowed the lawn while I was away. Squirrels liked the very tall grass though; they can hide from the hawks.

If you find that a nice storm is happening outside and you are stuck in the office.
1. Jump out of your seat with a frightfull look on your face
2. Start repeating and mumbling to work colleagues that this is a sign.
3. Run from the office screaming with arms flailing. Add some apocalyptic comments in there for effect.
4. Once outside, take necessary photo's, even pop to the pub for a quick drink, walk back into the office calmly.
5. Announce, "Sorry, my mistake. No sign. All's good. Last time I listen to Tom Cruise about the day of reckoning" and go back to work.

The key is, the stranger the better. No one will ask questions if they think you've lost your marbles. Or is that just me?

Yaknow, it is times like these that I personally go kinda paranoid when a big storm is coming, moreso at night when nobody can actually see the thunderheads themselves untill the rain comes down like a river, then it is just light rian when the area tornado sirens go off...... then the next day is bright and sunny and there is no damage (save for some water on the roads) and guess what they do for the day? they test the tornado sirens. it has gotton to once a month and nobody pays much attention to the things anymore unless they actually see the tornado.

well, fortunately, don't live in an area with tornadoes (just excessively high taxes, sigh). well, you can probably get a cheap digital camera now and do shots like this. :)
