What am I? Part 2

This is the answer to the "What Am I?" post right before this one:

Here's the article: http://www.newscientist.com/article/dn14045-gallery-trees-as-youve-never-seen-them-before.html - "A new exhibition by artist Rob Kesseler, Canopy, presents vividly coloured electron microscope images of fruits, pollen, leaves, wood and seeds. The exhibition is at Kew Gardens, London, until September."

THe "eye pod" (snort) photo is actually that of a pollen grain of a horse chestnut! If you visit the ilnk above, there are eight neat shots of various microscopic tree-related images.

Cool! I used to do electron microscopy both for my master's and then for a job. You can come up with some pretty cool stuff - and the pseudo colors definitely add a nice 'pop.' (EM images are black and white - they're essentially electron shadows)

I love electron shots of bugs and such. They're so neat. If the exhibit was in the US (nearby) and not the UK, I'd go check it out.
