Ugh

Well, thunderstorms blew through last night, although it didn't suck away the humidity, sigh, but it is ten degrees cooler so we're only in the upper 80s now.

Alas, took dog out for walk and the coyotes nailed ANOTHER deer! Not sure where, but when I went down to the road the dog went across to the neighbor's yard and I spotted something.... eeeeuuuu, baby bambi leg!  The blasted coyotes ate a fawn! EUUUUUUUUUUUUUU. Adult deers, I can understand but little itty bitty deers. Ack. This is why I rarely watch Animal Planet. The babies are always getting eaten when I turn on the tube.

I added the teeny leg to the bone stack in the back, noting that in the last day or two, one of Zombie Bambi's legs has walked off. Hate to say, but about time. The fur was still on it and the original attack was in March!

This is why the dog does NOT go out at night alone...

We had a thunderstorm here, too (Eastern PA). Our electricity even went out for a little over 2 hours.

We definitely needed the cooling off. :)

The return of Zombie Bambi! :)

But yeah, I agree it's hard when the babies get taken - but that's nature for ya.. they're a vulnerable/easy target. :/

We used to have chooks and the foxes were always getting them. Lots of feathers involved :(

I love thunderstorms when it's hot! Nothing better!

That's awful about the coyotes. Someone I know who used to live in California said his cat got eaten by a mountain lion.

I don't watch animal shows, because as soon as you see something cute, you know it's about to get eaten.

I had two dogs lying next to me and shaking. They hate thunderstorms. At least the temp is better today, even if it is still humid.

It's snowing here. I would send it your way but this means more water for kayaking this summer. =^.^=

[identity profile] alyssa22.livejournal.com 2008-06-11 02:05 pm (UTC)(link)
Haha! You may have to define what a chook is for the Americans... (it's a chicken, btw, wraithfodder..)

Well, we won't see rain for another month or two until the monsoon season starts - which means it will be 117 and humid during the day. Ugh. At least the lightning show is impressive.

Wow, the coyotes must be pretty hungry and brave if they're going after deer in an area with people around!

It's 95 degrees here in the South.

I saw that Montana was getting snow when I watched
the morning news. It always amazes me when we are
suffering from heat stroke, that people across the country
can be digging out their driveways and still using snow tires.

The rain did a good job for us in getting down the heat and humidity. Today was almost delightful. Well, it looked that way as I watched it out of the car repair shop window. Taking both vehicles in for maintenance on one day --sheesh, what was I thinking.

Poor baby bambi. There was just an article in todays paper about a lady in Florida being bitten by a coyote that tried to snatch her dog as she was walking it. She was able to save the dog. Now the police are advising people out walking to carry sticks or clubs to defend themselves and their pets.

Well, better a coyote than an alligator! Yeah, poor little bambi. Was tiny so hadn't been around too long :(

[identity profile] wraithfodder.livejournal.com 2008-06-12 01:54 am (UTC)(link)
Humidity went down during the day, fortunately, and it's going to cool to the 70s tonight I believe. So much better than the 90s!

Ack, I was in Louisiana once during the summer. ACK! Sweltering. Don't think I'd want to move down south.

I keep wondering what else gets picked off in our yard at night that we don't know about...

[identity profile] wraithfodder.livejournal.com 2008-06-12 01:55 am (UTC)(link)
Snow might ruin my garden.... ;)

[identity profile] wraithfodder.livejournal.com 2008-06-12 01:56 am (UTC)(link)
Glad we didn't lose power this time.

[identity profile] wraithfodder.livejournal.com 2008-06-12 01:57 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah, I know they get eaten. I just don't really want the body parts everywhere... one Zombie Bambi was enough.

[identity profile] wraithfodder.livejournal.com 2008-06-12 01:57 am (UTC)(link)
The hawks nail birds at our bird feeder. ouch.

[identity profile] wraithfodder.livejournal.com 2008-06-12 01:57 am (UTC)(link)
Thanks :)

[identity profile] wraithfodder.livejournal.com 2008-06-12 01:58 am (UTC)(link)
Yup, cute critter on Animal Planet. Poof. Meal for predator!

[identity profile] wraithfodder.livejournal.com 2008-06-12 01:58 am (UTC)(link)
Our cat just slept through it. Dog, too, but we didn't get real banger t-storms either. Sigh. I like those, as long as they don't knock out power.

[identity profile] flingslass.livejournal.com 2008-06-12 09:22 am (UTC)(link)
Chook for Chicken, moggie for cat, if I think of anything else I'll let you know.

[identity profile] wraithfodder.livejournal.com 2008-06-12 12:03 pm (UTC)(link)
why the heck is a cat called a moggie?

[identity profile] flingslass.livejournal.com 2008-06-13 09:49 am (UTC)(link)
Domestic Cat

[identity profile] flingslass.livejournal.com 2008-06-13 09:49 am (UTC)(link)
I really don't know why :)
