You know the videotape is old ...

...When you, hey, what's on this tape that's been gathering dust *cough gag gough* under the TV? Why, it's a CSI promo on some semi-insipid talk shows (ack, gag, THE VIEW!) with Jorja Fox, Marg Helgenberger and George Eads. Before Jorja left the show, etc.  Interestingly, a talk show called "Ali and Jack" had the BEST interview - long and they let the actor talk about the show and not stupid stuff (like The View) but that show is long gone, I think...

....But, found another tape with some scribbling and popped it in. Oh ha! It's an ad for Stargate Atlantis "Epiphany" with a VERY short intro by Joe Flanigan. Must transfer this to DVD for posterity :) And some tapes are unmarked, so I must speed-search through 'em to see what they are. I've found a few gems that way.

Since there's nothing really on TV this weekend due to the T-day holiday, I can go through all these old tapes. Wonder if there's a place, besides the trash, that will accept stuff you tape off TV (well, for tv shows I taped)...

Does that mean there's no Criminal Minds??

[identity profile] highonstargate.livejournal.com 2008-11-28 01:30 am (UTC)(link)
Wow, Epiphany! That's a long time ago!

[identity profile] wraithfodder.livejournal.com 2008-11-28 01:37 am (UTC)(link)
Nope, Criminal Minds did not exist back then! ;) However, I have found a "Burning ZOne." And an old interview with James Spader! Eegads, it's from 2002...

I have far too many tapes from the 80s... boxes of 'em in the closet. I need to go through 'em all. Well, with SGA getting axed, won't be much else to watch. I can live in the past! :) with $15K luxury cars, your dollar went much further, and no mention of 'wealth management' in ads (although those are sorta vanishing since the wealth is too!)

No, I mean this week, because of Thanksgiving.

[identity profile] alyssa22.livejournal.com 2008-11-28 02:31 am (UTC)(link)
Hm. I can't find it online yet....

[identity profile] wraithfodder.livejournal.com 2008-11-28 02:33 am (UTC)(link)
The episode title was "52 Pickup" if that helps. TitanTV listed it as new and CSI: NY was new so it probably was new.

I have a whole bunch of tape with old TV shows on them. Mostly Hey Hey It's Saturday (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hey_Hey_It%27s_Saturday), a show that ended in 1999. I'd get rid of them but my nephew loves the show. :)

[identity profile] flingslass.livejournal.com 2008-11-28 08:04 am (UTC)(link)
Try sorting through them when the dust gives you hayfever!

Oh man, some of the things I've found on video around here. My grandfather used to be a taping maniac so we have a TON of stuff. Though my personal favorite right now has to be the 6- 8 hour tapes of Sesame Street for the toddler. Don't get me wrong the current version is okay, but they don't even have the same theme song(its all pop and crud now).

I've got some OLD first airings of JAG on there, and goodness knows what else is over in our video library....

[identity profile] wraithfodder.livejournal.com 2008-11-29 06:51 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh, I've got stuff back to the era when a blank videotape cost $20 *each*. :) Didn't have a videocamera so everything is off TV...

[identity profile] penfold-x.livejournal.com 2008-11-29 09:55 pm (UTC)(link)
HA! I had to clean out my living room a bit for some repair work, and started going through my VHS cassettes. Scary what is down there (why have I been keeping tapes of Atlantis and SG-1, when I have all the DVDs?).

[identity profile] wraithfodder.livejournal.com 2008-11-29 09:58 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, I've got lots of SG1/A vhs tapes but you know, it's hard to get rid of videotapes these days.
