Besides the memories and the fact they're still enjoyable (watching Kung Fu: The Legend Continues - going through all 4 seasons).

Things that were fun:

No one had cellphones; therefore, kidnapped folk could not be so easily rescued.
Botox didn't seem to exist. People looked REAL.
Blinding white perfect teeth were rare. Now everybody looks like a Barbie doll.
Commercials for NOWHERE MAN with Bruce Greenwood (aka Captain Pike from new Star Trek movie)
SUVs were rare and barely seen. People had ordinary cars!
Phonebooths still existed
You could laugh yourself silly at the women's hairstyles and shoulder pads (although I hear they're bringing those back)
You can see folks who are now on Stargate SG-1 and Stargate Atlantis on it in tiny roles. Heh, David Hewlett is sooo young!
Guys (aka men) weren't afraid to show emotion and pat each other on back and hug each other
Watching the computer geek work on an ancient computer is sooooo funny.
Watching news bits from 1993 is just weird beyond belief. Ohmygod, gas is $1.35 a gallon. Heinous!
Oh, and your luxury cars are $15K. Now $15K is bottom price!
Chris Potter. Yum. And Kwai Chang Caine was cooler than I remembered.

Ha ha! I'm watching season 1. (It's the only one I have, unfortunately. Man, I wish they'd release this show on DVD.) The car phones and huge mobile phones make me laugh, too.

Chris Potter certainly was scenic. I wish that show would come out on DVD. I miss it.

Oddly enough, I just bought the box set of Nowhere Man because I liked the show and the set was on sale.

If you really want culture shock, try watching The Streets of San Francisco (more DVDs I just bought). They didn't even have portable radios. They kept having to ask people to borrow their phones to call in. And they had to solve crimes the old fashioned way--legwork. No such thing as DNA evidence.

I've never seen Kung Fu: The Legend Continues (has it ever been shown in the UK, I wonder?), but I'd love to check out any eps with DH in!

I know what you mean, though, about watching old shows - I rewatched The A Team a little while back and couldn't get over the size of the military radios, not to mention those funky old computers too! I also rewatched some Starsky and Hutch, and being earlier, that was fun too - no car phones even!!

Hmm, what else can I rewatch from my past...

Man from UNCLE comes to mind! (Ilya, mmmmmmm!)

I really wish this would come out on DVD. Yeah, the old phones are hysterical, but at least no one crashed a car talking on one like they do now... ;)

Oh yeah, I'm watching KF:TLC and Nicky finally figures out the blood doesn't belong to the victim cuz the victim was a woman and the blood belonged to a man. CSI, this was not ;)

I loved Streets! There are a few episodes I'd really love on DVD.

The brilliant white I-need-sunglasses-to-look-at-you is just too prevalent these days. I'm waiting for them to discover all this whitening will ruin teeth. But to see non-perfect women is great.

Oh man, haven't seen UNCLE in eons! The old shows are fun because they didn't have technology to rely on. They had to use their, uh, oh, what do they call those? Oh yes, brains! ;)

If we in the UK had the TV station you showed on 6th July I probably wouldnt go to work at all!! - the only thing missing was Blakes 7. Did you get that show in the US? I hear that SKY1 are remaking it. If they are casting Brits they couldnt do better than Richard Armitage for the part of Avon ( Guy Gisborn in Robin Hood ) but if its a US production I would love to see Joe Flanigan in the part with David Hewlett as Villa - what a dream team that would be....

I remember Blake's 7 fandom - I never saw it - my stations didn't show it, but the fandom was pretty big here in the States for a while.

It's an interesting site. Nowhere Man recommended it from Syfy. I like to keep up with people I've seen at Syfy and the subject of old movies is an interesting one.-Blfskos

I remember watching Blake's 7 on my local PBS station.

I've been working my way through S1 and 2 of Forever Knight on Hulu. I loved that show! One or two SG-1 folk show up there as well.

You're totally right in pointing out that all the actors looked like real people back then. I just cringe when I see some of those horrible fashions from the 70's and 80's that we all thought were so cool then. LOL

Oh man, how could I forget Forever Knight. The best vampire show out there!

Too late. Only FANS know of Kermit! Ha! I just finished watching the entire series last night and went, oh, sad :( Michael Sloan had been working on a script (well, back in '95/96) but alas, no film came about. But oh yeah, Kermit ;) Peter was always my fav though but loved Kermit. He paved the way for cool geek types ;)

But, but...I don't watch two episodes. Quake and Cruise Missile, I just like the teaminess of these two. (Still don't acknowledge watching this :D
