Wow!! that was pretty awesome!! While I have seen some cool meteors, I've never had that kind of luck watching a meteor shower; we live too close to Austin and get too much light pollution ;( Just once I'd like to be out in the boonies for something like that!
Wow this is fantastic. I live in Paris so obviously star gazing is an absolute minimum activity. When in Scotland last week, my daughter Alex, took great joy in seeing a lot of stars. It's still not ideal near Glasgow, but better than Paris. Alex loves planes, stars and spends a lot of time looking at or reading about both. Thanks for posting this video - thanks from Alex too.
Yeah, I'm in the suburbs so light pollution is a hassle, plus we had clouds, as usual. I'd love to be out in the California/Nevada desert where the night skies were soooo beautiful...
Yeah, it was overcast on the primo days here, too, so we missed seeing anything worthwhile. Although, my brother-in-law, who lives about 15 miles outside of Lincoln on an acreage, apparently saw some some good stuff around 2:00 a.m. one morning.
That video is definitely impressive -- even if the streaking lights were only planes, the time-lapse images of the clear night sky were still gorgeous!
