And Frankenpooch is home :)

The dog, now nicknamed Frankenpooch, is home. Considering the sewn-shut eye, redness, swelling (all typical of surgery), he seems to be doing fine. He's sleeping a lot, but that's okay too as he's on some painkillers. He's got a good appetite, and he hates the cone of shame, nickname for the plastic e-collar he must wear. He looks like a zombie dog, due to all the shaved-off hair and surgical stuff. For those curious and who are not easily squicked by post surgical shots, a photo of him in the e-collar can be viewed here

The cat has sniffed him up and is glad he's home, and so far doesn't mind being locked up downstairs during the day because I just don't want the two mixing up and getting into trouble - like dog wedging head somewhere ;)  And he's gotta wear that collar for at least 12 days till stitches are out.

Fortunately it's raining outside and dog does not like rain, so he'll stay inside more.

Glad to hear he's doing okay. He's looks good considering the surgery :)

If he's a dog that likes hugs, and if you're able to (cone permitting), give him a hug from me!

Oh...even with all that, he's still adorable. Poor baby...I know you're glad to have him home, as is he...and the kitty.

Take care of each other...everybody needs some good rest.

Sheppard's recuperating with Frankenpooch. (Love that nickname!)

Poor sweet poochie... but I definitely think that upon being healed? He will need a dashing pirate nickname to go with his still gorgeous but newly rakish self!

Heh, poor dear. Stuck in the cone of shame and he didn't even do anything wrong ;) Glad to hear he's doing good.

They have soft e-collars in some pet stores. Maybe he would mind that less.

The cone of shame. Oh, my dog hated that when she had her surgery but I think the cats hate wearing the cone more. Good thing you separated them though; you know cats, as much as the cat may love the dog, (s)he wouldn't be able to resist causing a little mischief because of the dog trapped in the cone of shame - talking a little cat smack with a tail flick etc.. LOL

Poor baby!! Hope he feels okay.

I'm glad to hear the surgery went well! I hope he feels better soon :)

Awww. Poor baby. I wouldn't want to wear the cone of shame either. I'm glad he's doing ok though. Once the hair is all grown back you won't really even notice. Did you ever find out what the cause was for infection?

Awh, poor sweety puppy! Hope he has a speedy recovery and the collar of shame will be off very soon. All animals hate that thing. It can be kinda funny though, for us humans anyway. Glad he's eating well, just like a "man" huh lol!

Aw...

So sorry to hear about your dog!

The poor thing, and poor you! Hope he gets well very soon.

Give him a hug for me.
