Stargate Atlantis TORRI HIGGINSON speaks

From a new GW interview with TORRI HIGGINSON at http://www.gateworld.net/interviews/leaders_legacy.shtml (go to that link to read 4-page interview). Anyway, isn't what Torri's thinking sorta of what fans have been thinking for months on end??

GW: What can you tell us about the circumstances that led to the decision to
have you recurring?

TH: I can tell you nothing. [Laughter] I wasn't a part of the decision, so I
can tell you nothing about what their process was. I can hypothesize. To be
honest, to be frank -- and I don't judge them for it -- I believe that there is
a loyalty to the [SG-1] people and when they knew that show was ending they
tried to find a way to keep the people they'd been loyal to for ten years alive,
and I absolutely admire that. There is a lot of loyalty to this business. I
think that's very great, and very gracious of them.

I don't agree; I thought in season 10, SG-1 was not getting the publicity that SGA got! I thought they were in fact setting up SG-1 for cancellation. Maybe it was what I watched or the websites I visited, but I was seeing more SGA advertising last season before the cancellation was announced.

I like Sam, but I feel very ambivalent about bringing her over. I'd rather have seen more loyalty to the SGA cast. Heck, I was still hoping to see Aiden Ford one more time! Remember how they said, "We've got an exciting new storyline for Ford!"? I knew we were in trouble when someone said, "We've got an exciting new storyline for Elizabeth!"

I still miss Carson. Elizabeth was never one of my favorites--I feel she has been inconsistenly written--but I'm upset with this twist.

If anyone is being gracious here, it's Torri Higginson.

Well, I'm talking in general since SGA began. SG1 always got new PR material, while with SGA they actually reused a previous season's ad material to promote the show, and did, in fact, push SG1 more because I'm they felt that with the time slot, SGA could ride SG1's coattails, so to speak.

I'm afraid Elizabeth's exciting new storyline isn't going to be all that long :(

Yep. Aiden Ford's "exciting new storyline" got him all of five episodes, one of those the season 2 premiere/wrap-up to the cliffhanger from season 1.

And now they've stuck SGA after Flash Gordon, which is truly boneheaded. I've got my fingers crossed about the ratings; overnights should be announced soon, if they haven't been already.
