Fanfiction.net fubar

I guess everybody knows by now that fanfiction.net, on a lot of stories, removed manual breaks between content like ------'s, etc., right?

I went to one of my stories and went 'crap.' Gotta check 'em all out and probaby reload a few...

That sucks! I'm only now realizing just how many stories I've posted on ff.net over the last five years. Going through all of them will take ages :-/ Although the 'oOo' style scene dividers seem to have been spared, at least in most of my stories.

Why are they doing this ?

Oh yeah, I recently relearned teh joy of fanfiction.net posting. Now I know why I always used o0o0o0o as my section spacing *facepalm*
You know what annoys me most there - they always lost the slash between character pairs, e.g. McKay/Weir becomes McKayWeir... *aargh*

This is as bad--and stupid--as that "special" code Myspace uses. Total b*tch to work around. :(

I realized a while ago that certain sites will remove any special scene breaks if I used symbols (like ***) so I started just doing XXXXX. It's fast, easy and because they're actual letters, it never gets taken out.

I would go and check my stories, but I know that most of my earlier posted fics didn't have any scene breaks and lost their formatting when I put them up, so the thought of actually fixing them all up makes me want to cry. I think I'll just leave them there, happily wallowing in their incorrect formattedness. *rubs hands together* Hee hee...

My apologies ahead of time for such a stupid question,
but what exactly have they done to rearrange the ff on the site?
Is it yet another PC event or is it to tidy up the site?
I guess I do not fully understand.
Thanks

Let's say you put in
****************
between sections.
Well, those ********* are now gone, so your story may suddenly change radically in mid-stream. I have no idea why it was done, but they should have apprised its users of the upcoming change. Plus if you wrote say, Sam/Jack, it's now SamJack.
While it's not earthshattering, it will make a LOT of authors out there look pretty stupid because FFnet removed these items.

**nods**
I don't understand the necessity of
doing this........I suppose they will clean up
something like my . . . . . . also which I use often
in emails and even sometimes in a story I have written??
:P
