I'ts dead, Jim!

Yeah, they tell you not to do this, but not really, but there's no warning in the book for ... running your cellphone through the washing machine. I guess I'm fortunate it started clunking in the dryer and then I found, vibrating (which it doesn't do) and the screen flashing like it's possessed. yanked out battery. Nope, dead Jim. Ran off to Best Buy, replaced with the new pink LG Flare (which is quite pretty) and transferred all my $/time over to the new phone.

Now, to choose a ringtone. Ohmygawd, they've got Stargate Atlantis, MacGyver, Chips, Avengers! But sniff, no Flashpoint, Adderly, Night Heat... OOh, they have Flipper, but must think about THAT blaring out when the phone rings... Hmmm....Nah. Oooh, Gilligan's Island (do you detect a theme here?)

Decisions, decisions...

They don't do well in the toilet either...so one of the ladies at work tells me.

Ringtones are so fun. Let's see I have the Banana Splits theme for my coworkers and work. I have Manamanah for everyone else. I have Rock and Roll Part 2 for Hubby!! He has Maverick for his ringtone.

Have fun choosing.

I never really bothered before, so now must figure how to load... and if I can assign to certain people.

I don't know whether you get this with the Flare, or in the US for that matter, but when I got my LG Cookie there was a leaflet in the box and when you sign up at the LG site, they give you a load of points for free downloads - ringtones, wallpapers, games, etc.

I gotta read that booklet?? ;)

[identity profile] abracah.livejournal.com 2009-03-08 01:27 am (UTC)(link)
I love assigning rings to people. That way I don't even have to look to see who is calling. Makes my life easier. I don't ignore people, just there are times it is easier to let it go to voicemail if I am in the middle of something.

[identity profile] anjak-j.livejournal.com 2009-03-08 01:30 am (UTC)(link)
You know, the Cookie was the first phone I've ever had where I have actually had to RTFM to find something out...

[identity profile] wraithfodder.livejournal.com 2009-03-08 01:31 am (UTC)(link)
Of course, I suppose it would make sense to actually turn the phone on, too... I rarely ever use it. Just for emergencies and other stuff.

[identity profile] wraithfodder.livejournal.com 2009-03-08 01:32 am (UTC)(link)
actually, when I was activating the darn thing, I did skim through it quickly to find out where the heck hte one button was I was supposed to use. of course, was it listed? nooooo.

I hear they don't do well in soapy dish water either.

Well that's a way to get a new phone fast. I've never heard of the LG Flare. What's it like? (I don't think we get them here in Canada) I've been shopping for a new phone, almost time to reup my plan.

[identity profile] wraithfodder.livejournal.com 2009-03-08 01:35 am (UTC)(link)
well, this one went through with detergent AND bleach, so.... may not work, but damn clean!

The LG Flare, which I get through Virgin, is a pay as you type phone. It's a clamshell type (you can flip open, which I like, otherwise I keep turning on the phone)

Hubby is the main one to call me and he usually calls or texts me while I'm at work. He hates to go through the office line. The kids always say to tell him "Hi" because they recognize his ring.

I also live a long distance phone call away from just about everyone so they can call my cell to save some money. We kept our MD phone numbers when we moved to PA.

Go with the SGA one.

[identity profile] wraithfodder.livejournal.com 2009-03-08 01:42 am (UTC)(link)
And I have a choice of a few there...

[identity profile] wraithfodder.livejournal.com 2009-03-08 01:48 am (UTC)(link)
Applause for ringtones, or washing my cellphone? ;)

[identity profile] jedi40.livejournal.com 2009-03-08 02:10 am (UTC)(link)
Like what besides the opening theme?

Atlantis? Where?

[identity profile] crayonbreakygal.livejournal.com 2009-03-08 07:44 am (UTC)(link)
Ooops. I had a friend drop her iPhone in the toilet. My son dropped his nano in the toilet too. I ran an iPod shuffle through the laundry. It was fine, believe it or not.

Hey, you got a cool phone out of it.

[identity profile] iolandasblog.livejournal.com 2009-03-08 02:55 pm (UTC)(link)
My sisters husband found out, that draining them in hard liquor isn't helping as well.

And for the ringtone: I have the Doctor Who theme for quite some time now :)

[identity profile] wraithfodder.livejournal.com 2009-03-08 04:02 pm (UTC)(link)
Well, at least my phone is only $29.99 + tax, so it's cheap, but it's pretty in pink :)

[identity profile] wraithfodder.livejournal.com 2009-03-08 04:02 pm (UTC)(link)
Virgin Mobile, at least for the LG Flare model.

[identity profile] wraithfodder.livejournal.com 2009-03-08 04:03 pm (UTC)(link)
Oooh, didn't check for Doctor Who, that would be cool too!

[identity profile] cannellfan.livejournal.com 2009-03-09 06:34 am (UTC)(link)
Oooh...An Adderly ring tone would be so cool! And it's so nice to know I'm not the only one who still remembers Night Heat.

:-)

[identity profile] ancientcitadel.livejournal.com 2009-03-09 07:08 am (UTC)(link)
My brother dropped one of his down a sewage and I think another died in some motor oil. He really shouldn't take them to work with him. :)

[identity profile] wraithfodder.livejournal.com 2009-03-09 12:00 pm (UTC)(link)
Sure sounds like he shouldn't!

[identity profile] wraithfodder.livejournal.com 2009-03-09 12:01 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh yeah, I loved those shows. Gotta xfer my VHS tapes to DVD or some other format so I don't lose 'em!

[identity profile] wraithfodder.livejournal.com 2009-03-15 01:21 am (UTC)(link)
Opening theme is broken into like three ringtones...

[identity profile] jedi40.livejournal.com 2009-03-15 01:52 am (UTC)(link)
So pick the one you like the best from them.
