Sitting here plotting

Cuz neither Harper's Island (CBS) nor Southland (NBC) look appealing enough to watch 'em all the way through. Besides, gotta put the dishes away.

Anyway, plotting. On the garden. I ripped out the old one and can reseed with grass or.... well, I'll just be feeding wildlife if I put in tomatoes, etc. What would be good plants that will attract butterflies, but that deer and raccoons won't eat?  For Northeast US. I'd love to plant these orange butterfly plants that used to grow wild in the field, when we had a filed, before it yuppified into MacMansion type houses.

Definitely need plants that squirrels do NOT eat! ;)

I checked out The Unusuals last nigh - meh. Apparently it, Southland and Dollhouse are among those on the endangered list.

I hope 'Chuck' gets spared.

Any new AF theater's in the works?

[identity profile] wraithfodder.livejournal.com 2009-04-10 10:22 pm (UTC)(link)
I have an idea - involves JellO - but still thinking about it. The AFs are lulled intoa false sense of security as I do outside yard work.

Sounds interesting....I can't wait to see what you put them through.

I have been planning my garden too now that I actually have one. I need to figure out what kangaroos won't eat as I have one who visits quite regularly. I've seen him eat grapevines along with plain ole grass so far. Good luck with yours.

I guess I can't complain about chipmunks if you get KANGAROOS! ;)

Check with your local extension agent. They should be able to tell you what are the best plants for your area. I would ask about native plants. I do know that monarchs like dill and fennel, well the caterpillars do. Bee balm is a gorgeous plant that attracts both bees and butterflies. Zinnias, Cosmos, butterfly bush, Lantana, milkweed & Buddleia are some of the most common plants used. Hope this helps.

Found this at work...

I know this is for the southeast, but it does contain some good info. Sorry about the scan; it is the best the copier will do in one pass. Again hope it helps some. If the link does not work, let me know. It has been a will since I have used my 4shared site & tried to make a file public.
