Wow, filming in Tasmania has its benefits. Press!

An official Australia-Canada co-production, “Arctic Blast” stars Michael Shanks (“Stargate”, "Burn Notice," “Desperate Escape”) and is being helmed by legendary director Brian Trenchard-Smith, making his first down under production in over 10 years.

Written by Jason Bourque, “Arctic Blast” tells the chilling story of a mega ice fog caused by a rip in the earth’s upper atmosphere over the South Pole. The killer fog grows in size and fury and moves northward from the polar wastes destroying everything in its path.

I'm just waiting for the idiots in the US media to start thinking Tasmania is its own country, when it's actually an Australian state!

Meanwhile, you should see all the media on Tom and Katie. She's filming a movie here, and there are shots of her and Suri out shopping, playing in parks etc, absolutely everywhere. The latest one has her with Tom running around the Tan! This is The Tan, btw: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Royal_Botanic_Gardens,_Melbourne

Why is it in film that meteorologists are all mavericks with failing/failed marriages?

That said, it sounds alright... might be a bit weird having people refer to Daniel as Jack... :P

ALL lead characters in scifi films having failing marriages, thus, their marriages can be repaired by the end of the flick ;) But yeah, such are a heckuva lot of maverick meteorologists!

What? YOu mean it's not? ;)

Oh, s hall pass on anything with TOm and Katie. I'm surprised it's not all over the tabloids here, but they're busy with Tori Spelling.

What's Tori Spelling doing that's so newsworthy??

latest tabloid trash cover is that dean married her for her money.

[identity profile] alyssa22.livejournal.com 2009-09-08 02:12 am (UTC)(link)
Didn't her father leave everything to the brother??

[identity profile] wraithfodder.livejournal.com 2009-09-08 02:25 am (UTC)(link)
yeah, that's what i heard. i only looked at the cover as i stood in line waiting to check out. sigh. i used to really like dean till he dumped his wife for tori (and she dumped her spouse too!)

I don't know how hollywood types think it's okay to just.. bed hop.. or marriage hop... I don't know how they think anyone can take them seriously. Sure, they may have two kids now, but honestly, does that make what they did to their significant others right? Same goes for Julia Roberts and Danny Moder... I keep having visions of that tshirt she wore that basically had a go at his wife.

Maverick meteorologists? Is this what global warming has brought us to - the new heroes for the millennium are Action Weathermen?! Well it's better than Peter Graves as a Department of Agriculture hero in The Beginning of the End. LOL

It'll probably be fun.

Thanks for the picture! :)

Any guesses if this movie will come out on DVD? I definitely live on the wrong continent. ;)

Hopefully!

Wow, Brian Trenchard-Smith--a director so legendary that...I've never actually heard of him before. Although upon hitting up IMDb, it turns out that he directed a hilariously bad disaster movie (Hospitals Don't Burn Down) that was used as a training film at a hospital where I used to work because it was based on a real event (word to the wise: if you're sneaking a smoke in a hospital, don't throw the still-lit butt down the laundry chute).

He's also the legendary director of Leprechaun 4 and Atomic Dog.

I have a feeling that Arctic Blast will be chilling alright. Just not in the way intended.
