The dog...

Last night, I had to get the dog in. At least I thought I had to. The back light was on so I went out and whistled. I took the big flashlight with me as that way I can find him in the backyard. So I whistle, call his name and hear something rustling around the trees to the side of the yard. I'm thinking 'what the heck is he doing over there?' so I go over there, shine the light around and then spy something way in back. I'm thinking, mutant giant ferret? No, wait, it's the fox! It just looks at me like 'meh' and goes over and starts digging up the yard. So I go back in the house and get shoes on (slippers just don't cut it in snow) and go back, spot him again only this time he's like "eegads, human!" and runs off.

This little guy roams around the patio while I'm at work, I'm told. Probably looking for food.

Upstairs on the bed. Last place I'd look! ;)

Funny how he wasn't bothered by you when you were in slippers, but was when you were in shoes!! Maybe slippers suggest a nice friendly lady and shoes a nasty going to run after him one?!!! *bg*

We have a fox, though we don't see him often. But we have spotted him (or her) going up and down our drive occasionally, and when it snows there's always foxprints on the drive and back garden! Oh, and if there's only one, then he's a dog fox - how do I know? That distinctly foxy urine smell on the patio! Lovely! Ugh!

Was the dog okay?

Hmm... slippers vs. shoes. Well, guess I'll have to be the nasty one in shoes cuz it's awful cold outside. Meanwhile, my brother spotted the coyote just toodling through yard at lunch time. Might explain the lack of squirrels!

You know, the looking-for-the-dog-using-a-flashlight-in-the-scary-and-dark-backyard thing is, like, so classic. Fortunate for you, the fox wasn't a serial killer with a machete.

Or worse, a chainsaw (thinking of that bizarre ferret with chainsaw ad) ;)
