Happy News

Yes, heard on the news today that GM is dumping the Hummer line. Finally, these behemoths will go extinct. I live in an area with 'hummer hives,' as I call them - Hummer dealers, and the people who drive them? Not the best. Tiny blonde housewife yakking on cellphone while driving these things. Disaster waiting to happen. Plus they take up two parking spaces. And there's nothing more fun than being tailgated by one of these! Ack!

I adore your icon, and I also agree about Hummers. YAY that GM is finally stopping them!

Living in an area with too many of them, I am glad to hear of their impending demise. Excuse me while I cackle ;)

I wish they would do that for the "chelsea tractor" here.. four by fours.. developed for getting around country lanes and over squishy fields. Created to moves sheep/cows and food and eqipement from one piece of terrain to another.. not for mums to pile with children and drive on handed through urban streets on the mobile whilst doing their makeup..

Whoot for the Zim and Gir...

SOunds like SUVs in general!

Yeah, I thought Zim should be used for this news :)

We call them Toorak Tractors
Stuff it, I tired to put this under a cut but I don't know how to do this in a comment post :P so I'll just give yu the slang meaning:

In Australian slang (particularly in Victoria), a "Toorak tractor," "Toorak taxi," "Toorak tank," or "Toorak truck" are pejorative names for a luxury 4WD (SUV) vehicle. The reference to the wealthy Melbourne suburb alludes to the ownership and use of such vehicles as status symbols rather than for their designed off-road abilities.

I guess it's not the cars fault, just the morons who drive them!

Regrettably the morons are breeding like rabbits.

I'm probably one of the few people in the world who actually appreciates the hummer. But by that I mean the original, woody camo ones the Army had me using. Out on a modern road here in the US all tricked out in chrome and such? It is to laugh.

[identity profile] wraithfodder.livejournal.com 2010-02-26 01:48 am (UTC)(link)
Oh, the original ones, if used by professionals (rescue people, etc.), fine, but housewives, business men, etc. should not have them. THey can't drive them.

I hate those things! We've had them imported over here. They are extremely useless in an urban environment. I don't even like 4WD's (Four wheel drive is the equivalent of SUV) so why would they make something even bigger???

[identity profile] wraithfodder.livejournal.com 2010-03-21 01:11 am (UTC)(link)
Compensating for something that's smaller? ;)

You said it, not me! :D
