New York Comic Con 2016

This year, we managed to get Friday and Saturday tickets. Kept trying for 3-day or 4-day but it was impossible to obtain, so.... at least this year, no train breakdowns or disasters that ate up travel time. I'd leave house at 5:30am and get back at 10:30pm and then repeated it the next day. Don't know if I could have done that for a third day. Most of my time was spent walking. Took just under three hours to go through entire dealers room and the 'Block' (more artist dealers). Took two days to get into ARtists Alley to peruse their wares. It was PACKED. I think a lot more people were there, despite farming off many panels to Madison Square Garden, and two other off-site venues, which sorta sucked as if you went to those, they were first-come, first-serve, so you lose out on the Javits experience.

Took a ton of pictures, and instead of posting one or two here, below are the links:

It was fun, despite the crowds. On Saturday, of course, it rained when we left. Got a bit wet but another fan gave me and friend disposable ponchos. Thanks! I was also sitting in fold-down seat on double-decker buses they used for transport. At one point, I stood up to look around corner, then sat down, but the seat had flipped down so I nearly hit the floor. Recovered quickly and popped back up, with other fans going "OMG, are you okay?" while my friend laughed. Guess those squats I've been practicing helped!

Met two other friends while there, and one sat at table right next to mine in main concourse, looked up and saw me and called my name. It was so weird, but otherwise, it's impossible to connect due to immenseness of venue and crowds.

Nice photos! I was at SDCC in July. They started adding events in hotels too, but it's just to hard to go between all those places. I took my nephew - I think once is enough for him, and I don't need to go again. Too crowded, too hot, too impossible to get into any of the big-name panels. But yeah, he won't forget the Southpark village - that was a highlight :)

It's close enough for me to take the train in, and still cheap enough (no hotels, etc.) to go, but the crowds. Wow, I think they're a quarter bigger than last year. I bring earplugs to cut down the din.

Great pics, thanks.

I was there Thursday, Saturday, and Sunday. Thursday I spent walking around the show floor, buying things, and getting Zoie Palmer's autograph. Which turned out to be a good thing because the other days her line kept getting capped. Saturday was standing on the Hallmark line to get the Star Wars Itty Bitty's, Dark Matter panel day and some more show floor touring. Sunday I sat through one panel to make sure I had a seat for the Timeless panel and then people-watched until it was time for the autographing session for Timeless.

I was considering a panel at both BookCon and the Hammerstein, but the NYCC team held one of those Facebook live chats the day before and encouraged bringing food to the event...but you couldn't bring food into any of the off-Javits locations. So...I opted to keep my food and avoid the non-food places.

The pictures you took were great. I don't have the patience to get great pictures like that. I took some of the Hallmark booth, mostly for my sister who works in a store locally so she could see what they had.

I saw the Hallmark booth, or rather, the mob around it. Never did get to see the items, but then I could go to eBay ;) Yeah, the 'you can bring food' but then having your food taken away got some fans POed (read it on NYCC's Facebook page). I brought food with me as the Javits prices were too much; picked up a piece of pizza at Grand Central each night before going home. $4 is better than $10 at the Javits. Must admit I go overboard taking photos as with digital, there's no cost of developing, although I took less year than last year.

Great pics hon. A lot of stuff in the dealers room. Looks like you had a great time there. Do the actors show up to this one much like they do in California?

Oh yeah, loads of actors, but they put the best ones off in the Hammerstein, which means trekking over to another building several blocks away where it's "first come first serve" which would mean a whole day shot, and I love going through the dealers room, even if I buy a mere pittance compared to some. SOmeone said this year's was bigger than SDCC but having never been to that one, can't compare.

Yeah, the Idea of having guests is to keep them where all the action is not spread them out. I would so hate that.
