SciFi announces fall premiere dates; SGA to get midseason finale on Dec 7th

http://www.scifi.com/scifiwire/index.php?category=2&id=43313 reports the Fall dates for SciFi Channel in the US.

"The fourth season of Stargate Atlantis debuts on Sept. 28 and will air Fridays at 10 p.m. Atlantis will have a midseason finale on Dec. 7, a finale that will feature the return of Torri Higginson as Dr. Elizabeth Weir. The Atlantis team must ally itself with a known enemy to join forces against an even greater foe.

Throughout the fall, SCI FI's summer series will have their finales: Who Wants To Be a Superhero? at 9 p.m. Sept. 13, Painkiller Jane at 10 p.m. Sept. 21, Eureka at 9 p.m. Oct. 2 and Doctor Who at 8 p.m. Oct. 5. "

Well, it's been announced they've pulled the plug on Painkiller Jane. She's dead, Jim *cough cough*. Meanwhile, it sorts sucks (no, wait, it does suck) to read 'midseason finale' as I have this dreadful feeling it will be Spring before we see the second half of season 4. Hopefully just January, but this is SciFi, remember. They advertised SGA in the 9pm slot for several weeks before making the correction to 10pm....

Am I remembering this wrong, but wasn't the reason for the extended hiatus this year so that season 4 would air continuously? I don't mind a break for a month or so around the holidays, but please not another 4 months between new eps. I am barely hanging on I want to see season 4 so badly; I can't stand the idea of another long break without new Atlantis eps. It's already been forever. Okay, I'll stop whining now, but I'm really hoping that the "geniuses" at Sci Fi get a clue and don't sabotage the show anymore than they already have.

I don't think they ever gave us a reason for the months-long hiatus. I'm hoping that SGA will resume after the Xmas holidays. I mean, months between episodes LOSES the audience. Gah, I mean, the networks sure figured it out with all the shows they had that tanked using that tactic.

No kidding, they need to realize viewers are no longer lemmings turning to one of the big 3 (or 4). With so many choices, the networks/cable need to do their part to keep the audience - that means keeping the show on in a regular time slot and rotation and advertising, not long unexplained absences that make the casual viewer think the show is gone/done.

YAY Torri! More Torri = more better. Less Torri = more boring. :P

(I've totally lost track of the Atlantis news lately. Damn work, taking over my life!)

You know, when I read all the 'CARSON'S BACK!' stuff... and now '..the return of Torri Higginson as Dr. Elizabeth Weir..' for the mid-season finale.

Now, is it too much to hope that this means both of these characters will actually be returning to the show in full-time status? Well, of course, I know that for Torri, she's only got 4 eps for season 4, but.. is it too much to hope that she'll return for season 5 full time?

I don't wanna get my hopes up too much, but the Save Carson Beckett camp seems to be all a twitter about things. Can we be twittering in the Save Elizabeth Wier camp too?

I realize Torri's already mentioned that she's looking forward to getting back to some theater work. But even with that, theater work isn't like something that she can't do for a little time filler until she's ushered back to Atlantis for the 5th Season. Right? **looks hopeful**

If Doctor Who ends Oct 5, what's going into the 8pm slot for SciFi Fridays?

repeats of sg1??

I'd rather see repeats of SG1 than Flash Gordon. Caught ads for it last night - with review quotes - I wonder how much they had to pull out of context, and I'd like to lay odds on how many eps they run before it gets cancelled.

Unless they can radically improve Flash Gordon, I see it going the same way as Painkiller Jane...

I have the awful feeling once WEir is gone, she'll be gone like Ford is gone...
