SciFi Channel Changes

Well, today SciFi reported that the Beeb (aka BBC) is going to make a fifth series of DOCTOR WHO, but, that's in 2010! Yikes!

Meanwhile, SyFyPortal drops the potential news that EUREKA's numbers are pretty good, so we'll probably see a third season, which is fine by me again as I do like that show. The numbers aren't so good for FLASH GORDON, and my gawd, every time you turn on SCiFi there's an ad for it. I've tried FG, even watch it or record it to look for SGA ads, but it's a substandard show, sorry to say.

Hmm, interesting that Eureka's numbers are considered pretty good. As far as I could tell, they average around 1.6, which is a good sign for SGA since they're around the same or higher. As for Flash Gordon, SciFi needs to find a replacement for it on Fridays. That CAN'T be the SGA lead-in!

Even repeats of SG1 would probably pull in better #s than FG.

Eureka is fun to watch and the kids love it. As for Dr. Who, I saw that the good doctor is going to be doing theater for two years. Why on earth put a show on hiatus so an actor can do theater...especially when it has a following? Flash Gordon is a dud....

Ancientcitadel has an article on the Doctor Who situation, something to do with the BBC switching over to High Definition TV. So whilst this is happening David Tennant has time to do some Theatre work.

I've heard Flash Gordon is such a stinker that I'm too scared to go anywhere near it. But I loved the movie.

Well, with Doctor Who always on or off, I mean it's been on the air for decades, a couple years won't hurt, except that it's one of the best scifi shows on right now. Darn.

Tell me about it! I got hooked because of older siblings so have been watching since Doctor number 4. My sister is still afraid of giant spiders!

I got my new issue of TV Zone yesterday. One of the small news items reads: "The Dresden Files has not been picked up for a second season. Star Paul Blackthorne is moving on to new series Big Shots."

Didn't know if that was common knowledge yet or not.

Yeah, heard that a while ago, alas. I honestly don't think Big Shots is going to last that long either.

Eureka is fun in a fish out of water, 'Northern Exposure' sort of way, although some of the science is painful at times, though they try.

FG is just bad, as in 'turn of the TV, I can use this hour to clean the bathroom and mop the floors,' bad.

I'm also upset that NBC has decided to go with Amazon Unbox after their spat with iTunes. I know that we Mac people are not that large a percentage, but you're now encouraging us to download from other sources...

Well, most science on fiction shows on tv can be pretty bad ;) Eureka is a nice pleasant show whereas Flash Gordon is well, yeah, there are tons better things to do than watch that, alas, and that could hurt SGA as FG is the lead-in.

Mmf. And I want more Dresden Files. Mmf.

[identity profile] wraithfodder.livejournal.com 2007-09-06 10:23 pm (UTC)(link)
But you got Flash Gordon instead :(

[identity profile] dejla.livejournal.com 2007-09-07 03:17 pm (UTC)(link)
No, I didn't. Not watching. Not even with the sound turned off, which makes some bad shows bearable.

If the book fans hadn't kvetched so much, we might have got to keep Dresden. Sigh.

On the other hand, as a book fan of The Dark Is Rising, I'm not going anywhere near the movie.

I find FG *barely* tolerable as background noise, waiting for SGA ads, which I may give up on.
