Due South Fan Fiction: "Alone", PG-13, gen, complete

This is all [livejournal.com profile] kodiak_bear's fault. ;)

Yup, she posted about DUE SOUTH on her LJ and that got me to thinking about that show and fandom, way way back in the last century (okay, 1996 or thereabouts). And I realized, hmm, I wrote fanfic on that. The archive that hosted it is long dead, but fortunately being a packrat has its advantages. Dug up a box of diskettes and came to realize I've got over two dozen stories I could repost and share.

So, posted one and hope to post some each week, but that depends on everything else I still gotta do. All my stories are gen, PG-13 at the most in ratings.

Anyway, here the first:

ALONE
An apartment building catches on fire, and Fraser suffers an immense loss. Meanwhile, Vecchio must deal with an unusual crime spree.
Drama, angst

Oh man, for a while there I was seriously afraid you'd killed Dief!!! The nightmare made me want to cry. But then the kids and wow, big relief LOL! Very nice way to spend my morning!

Glad you enjoyed it. I could never do in the dog, er, wolf. ;)

Hey, I remember this story from when I read the zine a few years ago! I remember skipping to read the very end, just to make SURE it had the "proper" ending, before I went back to enjoy the journey to get there. (g)

Of course, even though I remembed the basic plot, I still enjoyed making the journey all over again this morning. A great friendship story, and not just the friendship between Ray and Ben.

Thanks! :) Yeah, it's got the 'proper' ending :):)

Wonderful! I loved the first two seasons, but never felt the spirit was quite the same with Ray K. When I looked for fanfic, it all seemed to be Ray K., and most seemed to be slash. I'm delighted to read some Ray V. gen!

I knew you wouldn't have killed Dief permanently! :) I so felt for poor Fraser, though. I miss that show. They had a wonderful dynamic, and you've captured it. Ray tries so hard to make Benny feel better, and Fraser does realize, and appreciate it, but he has such a hard time with human relationships....

Is this set after s3? "Victoria's Secret" seems to be years in the past. I never liked the thought of things simply ending at the end of s3, just when Ray Vecchio is back!

So you've got more? Huzzah!

I'm a fan of the first two seasons more than the third, which yeah, just wasn't the same. And I remember fans were writing slash fic with Ray K before they'd even cast CKR!

I hate to say it, but this was written so long ago, I can't remember quite when I wrote it, which is why I stuck the date on it (at least that was on the original) so I guess I should see when the episodes aired to find out when I place the stories.

Yup, there's more!

You know I think I remember reading that one. It didn't used to be in Fraser's library did it? Does anyone remember fraser's library? Are you by any chance going to RCW next year?

:)

[identity profile] wraithfodder.livejournal.com 2007-11-25 10:57 pm (UTC)(link)
Yup, back when Fraser's Library was about. All the Due South archives from back then seem to be gone. Thank goodness I saved my WORD docs! :)

Don't know about RCW 139. Probably not as I don't get half the vacation I got back then (due to layoff/new job). Plus, hmm, yes, must make New Year's resolution to get passport.

I made that mistake-I had loads of stuff in Fraser's library and my computer crashed a few years ago and I hadn't backed my stories up. I would try the wayback machine but i think you need the url of the old site in order to search. Ah well...maybe i should just start writing again. LOL My sons and I are hoping to get to RCW if we can get the airfare together.

Darn, that sucks to hear! I had a hard drive crash a couple years ago and I lost a bunch of stuff, but not all. Now I backup to DVD every so often What name did you write under? I wonder if I might have any on diskette somewhere...

[identity profile] hollycole1.livejournal.com 2007-11-26 09:37 am (UTC)(link)
I think I used the name Red at Fraser's library. ;) Or Red Holly. I am a little better at backing things up now.

Well, if I find I saved any of your fanfic to disk, I'll let you know! I'm sure I must have other folks fics ... just don't know where..
