And Stargate Atlantis wins the People's Choice Award!

Stargate Atlantis was up for Favorite Sci-Fi Show (against Battlestar Galactica and Doctor Who). And they won! YES!! But gah, having to sit through so much drivel before they got to that one award was ... painful.

You'll find a crappy video below. AKA I aimed the cheap digital camera at the old TV and filmed so quality is eh, but hey, it's instant gratification until a better copy comes along! Screencaps to follow in the next entry :)

[P.S. they really should have stuck A Dog's Breakfast in under Favorite Independent Movie, as well, it was my favorite indie film!]

The awards were painful to watch. As soon as they started the montage of winners I figured we'd be stuck in there and started the VCR. The cast is so cute. I was really hoping they'd get to talk, since they were all there and everything. Sheesh! Wouldn't want to cut out yet another clip of Robin Williams or Jim Carrey.

Still, I'm so happy that they WON! WOOT!! I've got a couple fuzzy caps over at my LJ too.

I'm glad they won, but so mad they gypped us out of a speech just to show old acceptance clips. Will sci-fi as a genre never get respect?

We should all go to the People's Choice Awards' site and flood their feedback link with queries as to why the Atlantis cast members weren't given the respect they're due (and earned!) by giving them more screen time for their thank yous?
And then we email the cast members through Skiffy and whatever other links we have, thanking them for all their hard work, as well as letting them know we're disappointed in the PCA peeps' lack of respect for the nanosecond of screen time.

It probably was longer. This was the weirdest awards show I'd ever seen. It was all taped and everybody seemed very rushed to make their speeches.
