Spoiler info on season finale of Stargate Atlantis

SHOOTING STARS: 'Stargate: Atlantis' orbits Planet Hollywood

To some, Las Vegas already qualifies as an alternate universe, complete with alien life-forms.

But “Stargate: Atlantis” puts that description into practice at Planet Hollywood, spending Monday and Tuesday in front of the casino, inside the casino — and on the roof, where a stunt player will perform a nine-story fall.

CLICK On link for rest, and be warned, contains SPOILERS for the season finale (EDIT: oops, almost season finale, episode right in front... although half the time when TPTB talk about it they talk about both together as if they're ilnked)

I' not a fond of 'alternate reality' episodes, no more than holodeck episodes in Trek, because it's a waste. You don't get anything in the reality of the show, just a fantasy... and an homage (er, rip-off) of CSI as well. So does this mean Teyla's gonna be a showgirl or a hooker? Aieee....

Hah! Methinks whoever wrote that episode has been hanging around Area52 too much :) There's an SG1 AU that has the team working as cops :)

Sounds pretty interesting. I love those AU eps! :D

But afaik, "Vegas" isn't the season finale, is it?
That's something like "Enemy at the gate". ^^

Given how the season has been so far, we'll be lucky if we get to see Teyla in the last episode at all.

I thought the finale wasn't Vegas, Vegas is 519, isn't it? I know they said that the last two episodes would be 'tangentially related,' but I don't think that means the finale is AU.

I think I know how they got it mixed up, though--they filmed the finale in the 19 spot and Vegas in the 20 spot because of the extra filming in Nevada, so because it was filmed last, the reporters probably assumed that was the finale.

In any case, I'm definitely looking forward to this, alternate reality or no--it means they'll do things that they'd never have done in the actual canon of the show (such as kill off characters, or have them hook up). Plus, I can dream, right--if John isn't military, there isn't DADT to worry about. That's enough for me, a canon version of an AU where John's not military? YES PLEASE.

Though, damnit, I'm writing an AU where he's a detective, heh.

And, oh GOD, please don't let them be stupid enough to demean Teyla's character like that...

Pretty much the same thing I already gathered from the other spoilers. I've always been looking forward to this one, especially with the pictures coming out of the filming.

However, Vegas is the 99th episode and Enemy at the Gate is the 100th (series finale). The article mentions this as well--

As fans of the Sci-Fi Channel hit know, the show ends its run following its 100th episode in January. Its 99th, however, brings commander John Sheppard (Joe Flanigan, right) to Las Vegas

If its an AU where Sheppard never joined the air force then surely Teyla and Ronon would still be in the Pegasus Galaxy. If he was hallucinating this then maybe they would turn up but he's not this is just a "a slightly askew version of Earth".

My guess is that Woolsey, McKay and Zelenka (who we have seen in some kind of control room) are still part of the Stargate program in this universe and suspect that there is a Wraith on Earth. Woolsey goes to see John under the ruse of being an FBI agent to find out about the murders and perhaps by the end of the episode this Sheppard has been recruited by the Stargate Program.

It seems likely we will see little or none of Teyla and Ronon.

The procedural's like the CSI's and Law and Orders are favorites of mine so hopefully this will be a great combination of the two genre's I love to watch.
And maybe some crime drama producer will see JF as a detective and decide to cast him! I'd sure love to see him in a cop show rather than some smarmy soap.

Hopefully Teyla works in the unit with Sheppard.
and has black hair.... whoa, wait- how is this going to tie in with our reality? Like a Dream Sequence???!?

I think this sounds like alot of fun!

And I ever thought they were not allowed to read FanFiction...

Before I read this article, I thought that shep was dreaming all of it while in a coma or something. It was the only thing I could think of that would make him a detective until this Alternate reality thing. I hope they don't kill him in it.

I also thought JF would make a nice addition to CSI or a cop show. Lets hope.

I think it's fitting - given this fandom's love of AUs (present company respectfully excepted) - that the PtB join in the fun. It is annoying that they picked the only Sheppard-centric ep to do so though. At least Joe should get some decent screen time. :)
