Sanctuary: David Nykl

No real spoilers here. Just noticed on IMDB.com that David Nykl is going to be in next Friday's (October 24th) episode. So far I think Sanctuary is, well, okay. No great shakes. It hasn't grabbed me like Stargate did, but, it's filmed in Vancouver, and it's scifi, so I'm watching, cuz many Stargate SG-1/Atlantis folk are showing up in, and well, tonight, Peter Outerbridge (who, no, did not appear in any Stargates) is the lead guest star.

It's an awful thing to think, how does Helen pay the upkeep on her humongous 'sanctuary'? I mean, tax breaks, registered as a church, what?

I'm with you. It is OK but not appointment viewing for me. The plots are missing something so far and to tell the truth, so far the character development isn't at all intersting to me. But fun spotting the Stargate people.

SGA *is* appointment TV, but Sanctuary is almost (oh dear) sorta filler till SGA shows up again at 11pm. But I'm more interested in who will guest star in Sanctuary than the regulars, as so far, none of them have fascinated me enough to want to know them more.

I thought I would embrace Sanctuary because I loved it when it was a webisode (I even bought them) but I cannot bring myself to stay focused on it when it is on TV. It is actually kind of boring and I find myself wanting to do my homework when it is on. Granted, there are a lot of Stargate actor appearances which is cool but not enough to keep me interested in it. Eventually, I fear, I will loose interest all together and watch something else. Right now, I leave it on Scifi but listen to it rather than watch it.

It's not a show that makes me go "oh wow", not yet. I don't now if it will. Last night's plot wasn't anything terribly exciting, but Peter Outerbridge was great in it, so it made up for that.

Same here, it is mediocre at best. I just cannot get into the show at all. Last night's episode was "blah" and agree about Peter.

Exactly. The webisode format seemed to work better for some reason.

But it's not on SciFi here yet so after the first two yawn-generating episodes I've decided to save my bandwidth and wait for it to come to SciFi Australia. Then I might check it out again.

I really liked the internet version, but the tv version is just not holding my attention.

I wondered where a building like that would possibly be located. I thought they said something in the first episode about it being near the warehouses or by the dock (or someplace that conjured up a bunch of vacant buildings in my head). Yet, they live in this castle that is just beyond belief.

The heating bill would kill them! ;)

I think the Cliche'-o-meter is generating the dialogue, but I'm still watching, playing Vancouver acting bingo. *grin*

Yeah, once SGA goes, what lead-in will there be, or will both end at the same time when BSG returns in January?

Sanctuary is ok, it be better if Atlantis stayed on with it. hope someone at scifi figures that out and puts an end to this insanity

No, he was never on either SG show, however he was the lead asshole character on a little known Canadian show called ReGenesis that ended its 4 year run this year. (Apparently because he was tired of playing David Sandstrom & wanted out of his contract.... so they killed the show instead.)

And yeah, I gotta wonder how the hell she's heating that place too! :p Sanctuary isn't totally grabbing me either... like has been said, it's great doing the Vancouver Acting Bingo w/ it. *g*

[identity profile] wraithfodder.livejournal.com 2008-10-19 05:51 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, i caught REGENESIS for several months on a syndicated channel before it vanished. I loved it. Oh, hadn't realized that's why the show went off the air. keep hoping it'll repeat in its entirety or be sold on DVD. so tough to find Canuck stuff on DVD sets!

[identity profile] ladyniko.livejournal.com 2008-10-19 09:55 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh, if you want that, just drop me a line at yahoo.com - I can run off copies, since it's like never going to make it to DVD at this rate, it seems. :( It's like not even available in Canuck land as it is. Only like 1 season made it to boxed set in the UK & is now like out of print. *grrr*

I would have put $$ aside for that!

I actually find I like Sanctuary very much. I'm going back to taping a program to watch it later.

Alas, I mucked up taping the last one, and oddly enough, didn't really care :(
