CSI: Pumpkin, or Zombie Bambi Returns!

A ghostly visage seen inside the house tonight!

Well, every year we do a little Halloween setup. Drag the skeleton out of the closet, etc., stick it in a chair. Ah, wish I'd had a Bear Stearns cap or something to put on its  head. Adults appreciate that warped sense of humor, although some of the kids were like "ooooh!" when they saw the skeleton.

The skeleton, covered with fake cobwebs and some new spiders. That, or it's someone waiting for their 401K to rebuild itself.

The porch, complete with green cobwebs!

Should be green, but oh well, sorta ghostly, eh?

Crime scene tape a friend gave me a few years ago. Finally, a use! :)

.

The squirrels chewed up the pumpkin, so, since I couldn't quite carve it the way I wanted, I just drew up some eyes and stuck 'em in with pins.

The pumpkin seems unsure...

Possibly cuz Zombie Bambi has left the safety of the woodpile to come back to the front yard.

Fuller shot.

And that's it. A few times when I opened the door (after doorbell rang), I found kids clustered around studying it, and then I'd tell them that oh yes, it's real bones, coyotes killed the poor deer.. One kid said it was the best set-up he'd seen all night! :)

And oh yes, that g hostly visage in the first shot? Took a shot of the cat on the stairs. Forgot to turn on the flash.

Ooooh, Cool!
Happy Halloween!

Thanks. Tomorrow will be the fun of de-spider-webbing the bushes! and putting zombie bambi back in her resting pace on the wood pile.

Cool! Happy Halloween!

(It was a nice night to do it, at my place!:D)

Yeah, weather was really nice.

Hehehe, love the crime scene, I agree with the kids on the "best display" ;)

[identity profile] wraithfodder.livejournal.com 2008-11-01 11:22 am (UTC)(link)
Thanks. Had fun doing it, and so cheap. All I had to buy was $2 worth of spiderwebs...

[identity profile] flingslass.livejournal.com 2008-11-01 07:26 am (UTC)(link)
Best pumpkin I've seen! And Zombie Bambi *sniff* It's just like coming home! ;-)

[identity profile] wraithfodder.livejournal.com 2008-11-01 11:22 am (UTC)(link)
I'll let the squirrels know ;)

[identity profile] alaxes.livejournal.com 2008-11-01 09:57 am (UTC)(link)
That's cool!

[identity profile] wraithfodder.livejournal.com 2008-11-01 11:21 am (UTC)(link)
Thanks!

Ewwwwwwwwww! I'm still trying to get the image of you lugging the deer bones over to the bench! Ick!

[identity profile] wraithfodder.livejournal.com 2008-11-01 11:21 am (UTC)(link)
Deer bones are remarkably light, and after half a year, they're very clean too ;)

Wow! Now I'm a little embarrassed to post mine. (Hey, we didn't have access to real skeletons!)

Very impressive--better than anything we saw last night, and we saw rather a lot on our ninety-minute journey around the richer people's houses.

[identity profile] wraithfodder.livejournal.com 2008-11-01 09:20 pm (UTC)(link)
Heh, well, I don't think you want a real skeleton if it means having a deer killed in your yard and eaten over a period of days by coyotes and vultures ;)

No, definitely not. Good point.

Of course, sometimes you can find a skull. I found a deer skull and a few bones in a river a few years back.

Sweet! I love Halloween :D

[identity profile] wraithfodder.livejournal.com 2008-11-01 09:21 pm (UTC)(link)
And now I've got three bags of candy left over. Ack!

[identity profile] mackenziesmomma.livejournal.com 2008-11-01 09:56 pm (UTC)(link)
Awesome set up. I would sooooo love a zombie bambi skeleton. Hmmm, I wonder what the things I got buried out back look like by now..... *ponders* enh thats too much digging. ;)

[identity profile] wraithfodder.livejournal.com 2008-11-01 10:13 pm (UTC)(link)
I know I could never dig up a pet... we've got enough buried in back, alas :( but I figured since the skeleton just remained in the yard, I should use it. Oh, hmm, I should get it off the porch. Haven't taken down the H'wn decorations yet! Eh, do it tomorrow.

[identity profile] mackenziesmomma.livejournal.com 2008-11-02 07:37 am (UTC)(link)
Well we don't have just pets out there. Basically anything I find dead on the property gets rushed off to a hush hush burial so as not to have to deal with all the red tape of disposing of it.

Though I don't think I could go out and dig up McKay or his sister(two goat kids from last year) as that would be a little odd.

[identity profile] wraithfodder.livejournal.com 2008-11-02 09:56 pm (UTC)(link)
Red tape? Oh wait, yeah, got a friend in the midwest who said that you couldn't bury ANY animal in your yard as otherwise they'd be knee-deep in dead livestock, so she had to bury the guinea pig at night under a fence post!

[identity profile] mackenziesmomma.livejournal.com 2008-11-02 10:01 pm (UTC)(link)
Yes, red tape. Our county recently enacted a law that prohibits the burial of any livestock on your property. Though the problem then arises that there is no livestock disposal companies that will take sheep/goats as there is the fear of Scrapies(don't get me started on it mmmK?) and it is a giant hassle.

Though since we have 3 acres and only 2 are 'by the road' we just go out to the way back of the property beyond our fence(that doesn't go all the way to the property line due to trees and such) and just stick 'em out there. Or if they are little we burn them. Which may sound odd but it really works when you are starting to run out of space.

[identity profile] wraithfodder.livejournal.com 2008-11-02 10:12 pm (UTC)(link)
they'd have a fit with out backyard with cats and dogs and now the dead deer bones (well, the coyotes sure cleaned that up)

Was going for scared, but hmm, one can never tell! ;)

Very cool! I like how you salvaged the pumpkin.

[identity profile] wraithfodder.livejournal.com 2008-11-02 10:03 pm (UTC)(link)
Amazingly, it was really too!

Thanks :)

Nice set up! We don't do anything outside. Only the squirrels and raccoons and skunks would see it. I don't think I want to encourage the skunks to come get a closer look.

[identity profile] wraithfodder.livejournal.com 2008-11-02 09:57 pm (UTC)(link)
Thanks! Fortunately had enough kids come around to make putting it up worth the time. Just put hte bones back on the woodpile today.
