Stargate Atlantis movie - on hold?
Have read a couple very brief mentions that the Stargate Atlantis movie has been 'temporarily shelved' due to the finanial climate. Apparently Kavan Smith told fans this at the Pegasus 4 convention. Anybody have any more details? Thanks!!

The delay also gives the actors more time to secure other roles (hopefully for them) which will be more likely to make them unavailable to commit. And we know that a movie without any one of the four main characters just will not fly.

Atlantis on hold?
"Since we wouldn’t start shooting the Atlantis movie until the summer, as opposed to Universe which begins production in February, the series is more of a priority at this point."
See the end of his Jan 24th post.
What's David doing now?

OK, not all that shocked. *g*
Considering none of the actors had been contacted yet, I figured the movie was either delayed or would never see the light of day. TPTB are too busy playing with the new baby.

But I'm not a native speaker, so I might got that wrong.
I got the impression, that he is sure, that they really want to make the movie in the summer, but that there might be problems with the financing, and not because of SGU but because everybody in that industry has this problems.

Gee, why am I not surprised? As if the fans don't feel cheated enough already...

I knew we weren't going to get to movie.
And it's a load of bull that they can't afford to make it...They're using the recession as an excuse.

They stand to gain more (financially) from a brand new series that stands to run for 2 seasons or more, than they stand to gain from producing a one-off tv-movie for a canceled series.
There's probably no word on SG-1 because its production is so far off as to no be worth talking about yet.

It's been obvious for months, actually it's been obvious since the crappy announcement of the cancellation.
Let them keep rolling us, the cast and part of the crew in the dust, Karma's a bitch and will bite them on their collective asses when they least expect it.
Until then, I'll keep watching my DVD from when SGA was still the best show on TV ;).
