Can I ask a quick, and probably very stupid question? How do you know that the people "twittering" are who they say they are?

I ask because (a) I know nothing about Twitter and (b) I've heard dozens of stories about people impersonating "celebrities" on Twitter, some quite convincingly. I get that we know its David Hewlett because he links to it via his ADB site and talks about it etc but when an account just appears on Twitter is there anyway of ascertaining whether they are who they claim to be?

So far, with the Stargate actors, they friend each other, or actually introduce them to fandom. Jewel also confirmed on her official website. That helps a lot! ;) But you're right to be suspicious; too many impersonators out there these days!
