What I did on my weekend

Bought books! Got poison ivy!

First, my haul from the local library book sale.

library book sale

I think you can detect a pattern. All the Douglas Preston-Lincoln Child books. I've read them all from the library, but I did want to get paperbacks and at 50 cents each, can't pass it up! The rest, well, disaster novels. There wasn't much in either department (romance novels and James Patterson books abounded!). And oh yes, the disco CD set. Very cool! Okay, I do like some disco and at $6 for 3 CDs...

THen I gardened and got poison ivy. Icky picture here: http://i31.photobucket.com/albums/c365/wraithfodder/poison_ivy_next_day.jpg  And it's spreading. Ah, this is part of what I dislike about spring/summer, etc. That and ticks. Eeeeuuu..

And oh, a cute little mouse I rescued....

cute mouse

Soooooooo cute. Could not kill. I know, they chew up things but I released it back into the, er, uh, not wild. The basement. Well, the cat goes in there. It's probably an ex-mouse by now...

And that's about it. And oh  yeah, doing taxes. Such a joy. NOT.

Little mice are cute. I have cats and they've 'taken care' of several mice but one played dead in my fluffy cat's mouth. I made Charlie spit him out and the mouse was in good enough shape to make a break for it. I know they chew things up but I say that's what cats and dogs are for.

I remember the cat was in the hall, many years ago, with a tale sticking out of his mouth. Seriously. So I pried open his mouth and pulled out this itty bitty little mouse which I released outside.. Oh, to have had a video of that!

You have my utmost sympathy on the Poison Ivy. *shakes head* It's nasty. If you think it's going systemic, get thee to a doctor ASAP! My family has a history of being seriously allergic to Poison Oak (west coast).

Aww, what a cute little furry critter. Yep, he's probably an ex-mouse by now. A cat I lived with many years ago had a habit of leaving "gifts" on the top stair of the basement stairs. Ick. I was usually something inedible, like a foot or tail.

Congrats on the haul from the Library. :D

well, systemtic for me means it pops up here, pops up there and where the sun don't shine *cough* but I've never had it in the lungs. It looks worse today, but it's heading toward the crust stage. Yes, soon it will peel! ;)

gotta make sure I get to next library sale, see if I can find more pendergast novels!

I love the Pendergast series!!! I just introduced my co-worker to the series and she has read 5 in the last week:)

I started reading them after seeing the movie RELIC (book, much better!)

sorry about the poison ivy. i'm feeling itchy for you. Tecnu is available OTC and works pretty good if you're looking for something to treat. it draws the oils/toxins out of your skin. feel better.

cute mouse. hard to believe all the damage they do, isn't it?

[identity profile] wraithfodder.livejournal.com 2010-04-14 12:02 am (UTC)(link)
Hm, by the time I get to drugstore, it'll be down. I use salt and Cortaid. So far, so good ;)

Yes, mice are very destructive, but sooooo cute...

Cute mouse!

That poison Ivy looks nasty though, hope it clears up soon. :)

AT least the temperatures outside are cool, so the itching isn't so bad now.

"Footprints of God" is awesome!
And the name of the main character is funny. :D

Steve Alten!!!

I read the Meg books when I was in my teens, and let me tell you, my family COULD NOT get me into the water for the next two summers.

It was my personal version of Jaws. Only scarier, because those things were HUGE!!!

*cuddles mouse (with leather gloves)* Oh, he's so cute. But then again, so are squirrels, and look where that got me. I say, have at it kitty!

[identity profile] wraithfodder.livejournal.com 2010-04-14 12:04 am (UTC)(link)
I know of hte 'meg' novels but haven't read 'em yet so when I saw it... grabbed it! well, better a mouse in house than squirrel!

I can't stop chuckling at the font on the CD collection. "Disco, emulator-style!" ;)

Have I told you we don't have Poison Ivy here?

[identity profile] wraithfodder.livejournal.com 2010-04-27 12:53 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah, but you have, um, box jellyfish!

[identity profile] wraithfodder.livejournal.com 2010-04-27 11:16 am (UTC)(link)
Oh. My. God. I loved it!!! Especially the 'roo that kicked the guy into the pond, the koala that attacked the camera. Priceless. I must go twitter this link! Thx!

The song by itself is brilliant enough. I just love spreading the goodness that is Australia's flora and fauna :D
