Aw, so cute, until she's big enough to eat you! ;)

If you haven't seen it, check out this video of a new polar bear cub at a German zoo.

CNN Video

I mean, look at this little face :) and wow, she's got a web page already! http://www.nuernberg.de/internet/eisbaer/

and then there's Raz, the aye-aye, which will probably freak out half of you, so I'll put his little mug under the cut

yeah, a face only a mother could love, but he reminds me a little of my cat, except for the long black fingers, of course. Darned shamed there are only 1,000 left in the wild!

You can read more on this little fellow at http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/uk_news/england/bristol/somerset/7177701.stm

I must admit that the polar bear hype is getting a bit too much here. But. That Aye-Aye is about the cutest thing I've seen in months! *flails* There's something about it that just makes me want to reach out and protect it from all the evils of the world. *gets all mushy*

I do like seeing the polar bear, but have probably not seen the hype as britney takes up too much space on the airwaves here ;) Don't worry, once the polar bear cub outgrows the 'cute' stage, the hype will end.

But neat, somebody else likes the aye-aye! I sent the link to one friend who said "thank, now I'm going to have nightmares!" ;)

Unless it transforms into "oh noes, the polar bear isn't cute and little anymore and now he doesn't get enough love". I live in Berlin; Knut definitely got more coverage here than Britney. ;)

Though I agree, it is rather cute to look at.

I always loved aye-ayes. When I first saw a live one at a zoo I was five or so, and I remember getting very cross with my mum because she wouldn't get me one as a pet!

And unlike Britney, the bear can't get behind the wheel of a car ;)

Yeah, I remember seeing aye-ayes in books as a kid. NEver see a live one though.

LOL - yes I agree with that. He's adorable though, and the aye-aye was startling but then strangely cute. He looks like an accidental cross between a bat and a rat. :D

OMG they are both so cute in their own way. I will still think the Polar Bear is cute when grownup, but no way would I ever want to get close to one. The Aye-aye is neat looking too. I don't know that I have ever heard of them. Hope we end up with many more than 1000 left in the world.

[identity profile] wraithfodder.livejournal.com 2008-01-12 02:57 am (UTC)(link)
The trouble is the aye-aye is indiginous to Madagascar and the folk there think they're evil so they kill them. Sad.

I WANT ONE. Of both. XD

[identity profile] wraithfodder.livejournal.com 2008-01-12 06:44 pm (UTC)(link)
Heh, the polar cub is soo cute but needs fed every three hours. Argh, I'd die from lack of sleep, plus once it gets big enough, it'll eat me ;) But the aye-aye, as long as he doesn't use those fingers to take anything apart (like VHS tapes), oh, so cute ;)

[identity profile] flingslass.livejournal.com 2008-01-12 07:08 am (UTC)(link)
Isn't the aye-aye cute!!! He makes me think of that thing from Ice Age who was always trying to get the acorn :)

[identity profile] wraithfodder.livejournal.com 2008-01-12 06:45 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh yes, the scrat, or skrat. I LOVED that critter and his acorn-obsession.

The polar bear is adorable...for now. I love panda bears. They look so cute and harmless. But we know better.

Yup. :)

[identity profile] ltcolerrandboy.livejournal.com 2008-01-14 08:59 am (UTC)(link)
Ohhh, they're adorable (baby bear in the cutesy way, baby aye-aye in the so-odd-its-cute way!)

I'd take either on as a pet - I like unusual animals! Cats & dogs bore me! hahaha!

I'd take the aye-aye. Looks more and more like my cat and it would eat the bugs that get in the house ;)
