This is good and bad news.... Great, yes, MGM/Skiffy did do promo shots of the cast! Bad news, awkward poses, more photoshop poisoning.

Admittedly these photos aren't ideal. No one poses naturally like that. No one. But I'll take what I can get, and I'm sure someone in fandom will manage to Photoshop these into something properly worthy of the pretty pretty people.

I definately preffered the non-photoshopped promo pictures. Some of my favourites are from S2 and S3, with the cast sitting down and looking very relaxed and quite natural for a promopic :)

I want them untouched. Just shoot the picture, show the dirt, the wrinkles, a zit or two. I can't stand mannequins!

Why do they always photoshop them to death?
You are right, the poses are just awful, Keller being the worst but they all look so awkward anyway.
And what a bad idea to have them on those stairs, it makes them look 100% fake.

Very strange. I think having them pose on the lit-up steps makes it even worse somehow.

Why can't they just take pictures of the cast? I mean, there must be days when they all come in together! "Okay, everybody just stand here." It only takes a few minutes!

Thanks for the link. At least we got some sort of promo pics. I do miss the ones from the first seasons. They just seemed so much more natural. They were probably touched up too, but not so much!!

You're supposed to credit all icons, if not, the makers get kind of upset because they consider it stealing without a place for credit.

(the only reason I mention it is because in the past month like the one or two icons out of my whole profile that I didn't have credited I was asked politely to take care of)

There's keyword and a comment section. Just put By: Person's make or LJ name.

Oh ick. I think I'll pretend these don't exist and go back to the LA Times pictures. Still it would be cute if they could grab everyone from the primary and secondary casts (Lorne, Carson, Zelenka, Chuck) and do a 'class photo.' I'm willing to bet the pictures taken when everyone least expects it would be the best (and most real - somehow I see at least one person with their eyes closed - JF? - and jason and DH elbowing each other).

I think the best pose would have to be Horatio Caine from CSI:Miami. That hand on the hip thing doesn't make him look very comfortable.
But the crew do look a bit stiff. (I'd say they used your action figures but they only have McKay and Sheppard of this goup.)

Those stupid Captain Morgan commercials come to mind when viewing these pics. Why can't they just do it the old fashioned way? Forget Photoshop, just gather everyone on set make them stand together and take a picture. Easy. I'm afraid to see what the DVD cover will look like after this and after seeing the S4 DVD cover. They get progressively worse.

They have an amazingly good looking cast but they manage to butcher the pics time and time again. I think I may have to go to the extreme of grabbing one of the professional grade digital cameras laying around my house, drive 8-9 hours west across Canada to Vancouver, sneak onto Bridge Studios, pose as a photographer and give the photos FREE of charge to MGM (or whoever) to avoid potential disaster with the S5 DVDs. Can you tell I don't trust them anymore? Do they have blind monkeys running the image/promotional dept. over there? These are just awful, they are floating for goodness sake.

If you're wondering, I'm not crazy. I would never do anything like sneaking onto the Bridge. Just fun thinking about visiting the set, I will probably never have a chance to.
