Stargate and Comic Con

Ah, finally, a tiny link to Stargate SG-1, though not Atllantis, at the New York Comic Con. Sean Patrick Flannery (aka Orlin the alien in SG-1) is going to be there promoting The Boondocks Saints, a movie that has been out a while and now has a sequel coming out. Never heard of it myself, but apparently he and another actor from the show will be a booth doing a signing, so I'll try to be there, and try to see Seth Green do his Robot Chicken panel, and the Dead Like Me people are there for their new movie, and Torchwood. I've never seen it, but am darned curious. Oh yeah, and Jared Padalecki  (from CW's Supernatural) will there promoting the Friday the 13th movie. I'm willing to bet he will be MOBBED by teenage girls!

and in between trying to see those panels, I must criss-cross the entire Jacob Javits Center dealer's room full of stuff I surely don't need but will want, especially if I see any Stargate Atlantis goodies, or cute little Godzillas, or some other knickknacks that fits  my budget.

Anybody else going Saturday??

Wishing I was going since I adore Sean Patrick Flannery ever since I saw him on the Young Indiana Jones Chronicles. And the Dead Like Me folk? Yep, would have love to have seen them too...didn't know they finally made the movie so am excited to see it!

And Jared P? Well, who wouldn't mob him?! YUM!

Have tons of fun and then have some for me!

[identity profile] wraithfodder.livejournal.com 2009-02-06 01:11 am (UTC)(link)
I'll do my best. Hope I don't get trampled under frantic teenage female fans going after Jared ;)

[identity profile] shansgrl.livejournal.com 2009-02-06 01:12 am (UTC)(link)
Well, you'd better not or I'll have to come up there and whoop some ass! LOL If it gets dicey, just yell "OMG is that JENSEN?" and point the opposite direction you're in. Then run like a bat out of hell!

[identity profile] wraithfodder.livejournal.com 2009-02-06 01:14 am (UTC)(link)
I hate to say if I saw Jensen I wouldn't say a thing as I'd want him all for myself! ;)

[identity profile] shansgrl.livejournal.com 2009-02-06 01:17 am (UTC)(link)
*concedes point* Um, now I got nothin'. So, don't get trampled!

[identity profile] wraithfodder.livejournal.com 2009-02-06 01:19 am (UTC)(link)
If I get trampled, maybe i can sell the story to TMZ ;)

[identity profile] wraithfodder.livejournal.com 2009-02-06 02:00 am (UTC)(link)
That's a big *if* but thanks for reminding me! Oh, if only one of the actors would just show up as a fan, but you know, wrong coast.
ext_2410: (Aha!)

[identity profile] kimberlyfdr.livejournal.com 2009-02-06 03:18 am (UTC)(link)
You've NEVER heard of Boondock Saints? You should definitely watch it. The film is a masterpiece, for real, and we've been waiting the sequel for years (and even though they are on set right now and claim it's actually happening, we won't believe it until it's out)

[identity profile] wraithfodder.livejournal.com 2009-02-06 12:33 pm (UTC)(link)
Nope, at least I don't think I ever heard of it. Sure have now! ;)

[identity profile] smileleigh.livejournal.com 2009-02-06 05:52 am (UTC)(link)
Stargate and Godzilla! Now that is cool!!!
I wish I could go, maybe I can catch one of the California ones this year.

[identity profile] wraithfodder.livejournal.com 2009-02-06 12:33 pm (UTC)(link)
Well, sure hoping to find some stuff on those shows/movies :) If you can do the San Diego one, do it. It's immense!

[identity profile] jedi40.livejournal.com 2009-02-06 07:26 am (UTC)(link)
Have fun at the con. Wish I could go but I spent my con money in NJ last Nov.

Putting some cash aside for the new SGA AF's.

[identity profile] wraithfodder.livejournal.com 2009-02-06 12:35 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, need to escape reality. No better place to do it ;)

[identity profile] jedi40.livejournal.com 2009-02-06 10:51 pm (UTC)(link)
I hear ya.

NYCC

[identity profile] watcher652.livejournal.com 2009-02-06 03:35 pm (UTC)(link)
I'll be there. Want to trade phone#s via lj mail?

Aaron Douglas is at the NYCC and he was on SG1. Marina Sirtis was on SG1, too. Don't see any SGA connections.

Robert Patrick was there yesterday.

Ah shoot, just came home and checked my mail. I should have checked it all at 5 a.m. before I left this morning! I'll do a write-up. At least my fingers aren't sore, but gah, I've literally been on my feet for 12 hours.

[identity profile] media-junkie.livejournal.com 2009-02-07 02:08 am (UTC)(link)
Actually I will be at the Javitz on the 15th for The International Toy Fair - no help there I know. I just think it's interesting. Like two virtual ships passing or some other cliche.

[identity profile] wraithfodder.livejournal.com 2009-02-08 02:25 am (UTC)(link)
Darn. Enjoy. I'd like to know what they have there. I like toys :)

Me too

[identity profile] media-junkie.livejournal.com 2009-02-08 06:54 pm (UTC)(link)
The fair takes up both floors of the Javitz end to end. It has everything from traditional dolls, trains, etc. to very adult things like action figures, games, and frightening stuffed animals like "Bunny with Tentacles" which I used to sell a lot of.

I'll write about the best of the things I see when I get back.

[identity profile] wraithfodder.livejournal.com 2009-02-08 09:00 pm (UTC)(link)
Oooh, take pictures too! I like dinosaurs ;)

Re: Me too

[identity profile] media-junkie.livejournal.com 2009-02-08 09:08 pm (UTC)(link)
Two problems with that:

1] You need permission from a dealer to take any pictures. Sometimes there are toys that are not yet on the market.

2] I don't have a paid account so I can't post pictures.

Where possible I will post links to spiffy toys.

Re: Me too

[identity profile] wraithfodder.livejournal.com 2009-02-08 09:40 pm (UTC)(link)
Ah, okay, makes a lot of sense, on both accounts. but then take notes ;) I wonder what there will be in the realm of scifi toys. out of curiosity, is this event open to the general public, or just media?

Re: Me too

[identity profile] media-junkie.livejournal.com 2009-02-08 10:01 pm (UTC)(link)
It is open to buyers and industry guests only. I own a small game company. I also buy some fun toys to sell alongside my games at shows.

For instance, I have a dream game that has a lot of sheep on the cards, so I also sell stuffed sheep that snore when you squeeze their feet.

Sometimes the toys I resell have nothing to do with the games, I just think they'll sell and it helps to make table at a show. I don't have a pirate game, but I make a ton selling pirate hats. It's hard keeping a small business afloat and I do what I can.

[identity profile] wraithfodder.livejournal.com 2009-02-08 10:42 pm (UTC)(link)
Got an URL? I'd be curious to see what you sell. STuffed sheep that snore??

Re: Me too

[identity profile] media-junkie.livejournal.com 2009-02-08 11:01 pm (UTC)(link)
My url is www.blood-and-cardstock.com

However, I only list my games up there. The toys are strictly a sideline so I don't have them on the website. The sheep audibly snore AND their chests and heads gently rise and fall as they snore. Cute as can be. I also have little sheep that bah when you squeeze their bellies, little bats that bounce when you throw them on the floor and other fun things.

Oh, and did I mention the glow in the dark zombie play set? I have a weakness for the fun stuff.

Re: Me too

[identity profile] wraithfodder.livejournal.com 2009-02-09 12:12 am (UTC)(link)
Heh, of course zombies glow. they're probably all radioactively mutated ;) bats that bounce? oh, sound so cute!
