David Hewlett Grand Marshal at July 4th parade

Darn, I'm in the wrong country. Wrong coast. Oh well.

David Hewlett will appear in Point Roberts, Washington as the grand marshal of their parade.

Full details on the parade can be found at http://www.allpointbulletin.com/front_page8.html

The theme will be “An Outer Space Fantasy,” and leading the parade will be grand marshal David Hewlett, better known for his role as Dr. Rodney McKay in the Sci-fi television series Stargate Atlantis. The parade starts at the foot of Gulf Road at noon and will move east along Gulf Road and down Tyee Drive to the marina overflow parking lot.

You can also check out http://billieo.blogmaestro.com/2009/06/18/stargates-david-hewlett-as-grand-marshal-of-parade/ for details on the Vancouver Stargate meetup. Apparently David's going to be signing autographs, etc.

--thanks to, er, uh, darn, someone left a comment for me and now I don't know who it was, but thanks! :)

HA!

I think that was me... I know I left you a link to Shaddyr's journal on their gate building party... ;)

Call me old fashioned but it's a 4th of July parade and it has a Canadian grand marshal? He'll be great - but it just doesn't feel right.

He lived there while he was filming SGA. I figure they probably arranged it before he moved.

Actually, I think one of David's citizenships is US, so it's all good :-)

Thanks, that makes all right with the world.

BTW: DC=Washington DC? I live in NOVA. Just curious - MJ

You mean Rodney?....the genius of Atlantis, possibly of Pegasus Galaxy??
:P

[identity profile] dcdiva.livejournal.com 2009-06-19 08:50 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah I thought I read somewhere he was either dual or triple (US, Canada, UK). Guess he likes to collect them!

Yup, I live in Nova - Mclean area (naturally I enjoy the similarity between McLean and McKay)

I'm going! I'll be driving up from Seattle early on the 4th. I still have 1 (Possibly 2) seats left if anyone needs a ride! My hope is to be back by night in Seattle because I live right above where the city shoots off the main fireworks show. I also have floor space if anyone needs to crash (as long as you don't mind my 2 cats). PM me if you're at all interested.

For those not going, I'll take lots of pics!!!

Oh, and you'll need a passport/Nexus card. =)

I used to live in McLean when I was renting, but could not afford to buy there so I live in Sterling. I still work in McLean though, so I'm jealous. I would love to commute by bike!

[identity profile] wraithfodder.livejournal.com 2009-06-19 10:13 pm (UTC)(link)
Ah yes, it was you! Thank you! :)

He's probably the most famous person in Point Roberts! ;) And I believe he has US citizenship, so...

Grand Hewlett

That's awesome! I hope there will be a photo of him acting as Grand Marshall. What fun! Too bad his little boy isn't big enough to be all proud of his papa. -Diane

Oh yeah, I only live here because i'm renting for sure lol. I was looking to buy out in Loudoun last year and was still too broke!

Cool!

[identity profile] mcsheplovers.livejournal.com 2009-06-20 03:38 am (UTC)(link)
Ooooooh thank you! I'm looking forward to seeing your pictures!!

[identity profile] media-junkie.livejournal.com 2009-06-20 02:27 pm (UTC)(link)
I know a real estate broker that specializes in distressed Loudoun properties. She could find you a nice cheap home out here if you were still interested.

[identity profile] media-junkie.livejournal.com 2009-06-20 02:32 pm (UTC)(link)
I bow to everyone else's great knowledge. I'd no idea he was dual citted before. I'm a bad fan :-(

[identity profile] dcdiva.livejournal.com 2009-06-20 02:39 pm (UTC)(link)
gracias, but I realized when I was looking at those I don't really have the cash monies to rehab anything either. It's a shame because you can get some great deals right now.

[identity profile] media-junkie.livejournal.com 2009-06-20 02:48 pm (UTC)(link)
By distressed I mean in forclosure or close to it and desperate. The houses aren't necessarily in bad shape, just the owners.

We were just very lucky to be needing a house 17 years ago instead of these days. Back then Loudoun was dirt cheap.

[identity profile] dcdiva.livejournal.com 2009-06-20 02:50 pm (UTC)(link)
Wow, Loudoun must have been WILDERNESS back then.

Anyway, I ended up just signing another year on my lease, but I'm probably going to at least take a quick look at the market next year depending on what things look like.

[identity profile] media-junkie.livejournal.com 2009-06-20 08:01 pm (UTC)(link)
Wilderness no. Farmland yes. At first I was unhappy because there was nothing here. Then they built a few things like a Staples and a movie theater and I was happy. Now they've overbuilt it and we miss the old days.

Supreme Grand Marshall and Warehouse 13

[identity profile] kjhamnik.livejournal.com 2009-06-22 06:11 pm (UTC)(link)
I want to congratulate the Supreme Grand Marshall, ooo, was that not the rank given Hewlett, oh, sorry, just Grand Marshall, well he deserves a promotion!

On an off topic side note, I was twittered from Warehouse-13.net today, the forum is open and I for one am looking forward to it.
