Joe Flanigan on Rockford...C'est la vie

Darn. Just read at http://www.ksitetv.com/nbcs-jim-rockford-is-cast/ that the remake of Rockford Files has been cast. No sign of Joe Flanigan, however. They reportedly went with Dermot Mulroney, who has never done anything for me in all the years I've seen him in films, etc.

However, this means one less show to look out for. Maybe Michael Shanks will get Hawaii Five-O. One can hope...

I thought Hawaii Five-O was cast a few weeks ago?

And yeah, not surprised by NBC. We have no idea if Joe even got asked to try out. It'd be interesting at the next con to find out. And what he thought of his fan's creativity in trying to help.

Dang! *kicks at air*

[identity profile] the-scary-kitty.livejournal.com 2010-02-27 03:07 am (UTC)(link)
Well, crap. *growls*

[identity profile] gyri.livejournal.com 2010-02-27 03:27 am (UTC)(link)
DM has never done anything for me, either.

Damn.

[identity profile] astrumporta.livejournal.com 2010-02-27 03:57 am (UTC)(link)
Still hoping for Shanks as Danno but yeah, no longer interested in Rockford. I think Mulroney has more the body type of Rockford, eg heavier than Joe, but...yeah, bored already!

I'm afraid all the fan campaigning to the production company might have just annoyed them rather than the intended effect. I hope not. :(

[identity profile] black-raven135.livejournal.com 2010-02-27 04:12 am (UTC)(link)
There's another loser..........
Mulroney is barely taller than I am.......
That should look good up against the monsters he will
engage as part of his daily routine.
Suffice to say, that's it for me. I am just not interested
in watching a fine show go down the tubes, probably by end of
1st season.
Joe could have done wonders with it.
Once again shows how stooooooooooooooooooopid La la land is.

[identity profile] d_odyssey.livejournal.com 2010-02-27 04:34 am (UTC)(link)
Yuck! That guy does nothing for me. Nothing at all. I won't be watching.

[identity profile] mercury973.livejournal.com 2010-02-27 06:27 am (UTC)(link)
So that leaves Joe free to run around in the V costume, right?

[identity profile] parisindy.livejournal.com 2010-02-27 07:27 am (UTC)(link)
you know it would be really nice if a production company would make 'new' show...i know its a novel idea lol

(Anonymous) 2010-02-27 08:10 am (UTC)(link)
That's such sad news. I would have loved to see him as Rockford, but, well, now I guess I don't have to worry about adding another show to my must watch list.

[identity profile] immertreu.livejournal.com 2010-02-27 08:49 am (UTC)(link)
*sigh* Too bad. :(

[identity profile] xxsafixx.livejournal.com 2010-02-27 10:02 am (UTC)(link)
damn...I love this guy but not much as I do Joe:(

[identity profile] shepsgraypants.livejournal.com 2010-02-27 11:41 am (UTC)(link)
Dermont Mulroney? Who the hell is he anyway? Well, looks like another NBC show that'll be going down the crapper. And something that I won't be watching. I was so hoping to see The Flan back on the small screen. :(

Hawaii 5-0

[identity profile] watcher652.livejournal.com 2010-02-27 05:34 pm (UTC)(link)
The guy from the vampire series "Moonlight", Australia's Alex O'Loughlin, is Steve McGarret but they haven't cast Danny Williams yet. Grace Park from BSG is also on the show. Park will portray Kona Kalakaua, the niece of squad member Chin Ho Kelly, already cast as Daniel Dae Kim.

No Joe 8^(

[identity profile] watcher652.livejournal.com 2010-02-27 05:36 pm (UTC)(link)
I don't have to watch The Rockford Files remake now.

Re: No Joe 8^(

[identity profile] wraithfodder.livejournal.com 2010-02-27 06:29 pm (UTC)(link)
Nope, alas the casting doesn't scream 'watch' to me.

[identity profile] wraithfodder.livejournal.com 2010-02-27 06:29 pm (UTC)(link)
Think he's more of a movie actor. TV productions seem game on grabbing them as they think they'll draw in more audience. And movie actors are finding less movies to star in.

[identity profile] wraithfodder.livejournal.com 2010-02-27 06:29 pm (UTC)(link)
I'd definitely rather have Joe ;)

[identity profile] wraithfodder.livejournal.com 2010-02-27 06:30 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah...

[identity profile] wraithfodder.livejournal.com 2010-02-27 06:30 pm (UTC)(link)
Yup.

[identity profile] wraithfodder.livejournal.com 2010-02-27 06:31 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, the 'reimagining' is getting, well, BORING.

[identity profile] wraithfodder.livejournal.com 2010-02-27 06:31 pm (UTC)(link)
Guess so. :)

[identity profile] wraithfodder.livejournal.com 2010-02-27 06:32 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah.

[identity profile] wraithfodder.livejournal.com 2010-02-27 06:32 pm (UTC)(link)
Hollywood is just going with who t hink they will draw in bigger bucks, I'm sure, although I've seen several of Dermot's works and for the life me can't remember any of them!

[identity profile] wraithfodder.livejournal.com 2010-02-27 06:35 pm (UTC)(link)
As long as people were polite in their campaigning and emails, it shouldn't have had any effect. And well, doubt any fan would be dumb enough to be nasty "hire so and so or else!"

Hope to see Joe in something else then.

[identity profile] wraithfodder.livejournal.com 2010-02-27 06:35 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh well :(

[identity profile] wraithfodder.livejournal.com 2010-02-27 06:35 pm (UTC)(link)
Heh, your icon is perfect for this!

[identity profile] wraithfodder.livejournal.com 2010-02-27 06:36 pm (UTC)(link)
Yup.

[identity profile] parisindy.livejournal.com 2010-02-27 06:38 pm (UTC)(link)
it just bugs me when most of the shows they are redoing i never liked in the first place.... there are always exceptions but still

[identity profile] black-raven135.livejournal.com 2010-02-27 07:59 pm (UTC)(link)
**nods**
Definitely not memorable......
He is wooden in his acting........Rockford does not need wooden
He was in The Wedding Date with Deborah Messing.
If you take a look at IMDB you will see it did not achieve many stars..........
I think they made a colossal mistake in picking him
He is NOT that well known, but I guess they want someone who is
not hot
**snark**

[identity profile] black-raven135.livejournal.com 2010-02-27 08:04 pm (UTC)(link)
I will never believe Joe's fans were impolite in emails/snail mail, rather I think it has to do with the politics of it all. Hollywood is full of that kind of schtick. I could not believe some of the stuff my cousin told me about it........he was a set designer for years on contract to Universal but then began to free lance, but when I visited him he was working for Universal.
I am hopeful for much more for Joe.
It is my hope TNT or USA picks him up. I always thought a series like Burn Notice would have been great for him or Dark Blue which I think hit the skids due to poor casting, but Hollywood seems very adept at that sort of thing.

[identity profile] black-raven135.livejournal.com 2010-02-27 08:05 pm (UTC)(link)
Yuck! That guy does nothing for me.

**nods**
I saw him in The Wedding Date and that was enough for me

[identity profile] black-raven135.livejournal.com 2010-02-27 08:06 pm (UTC)(link)
Dermont Mulroney? Who the hell is he anyway?

Your reaction seems sort of the norm
I guess they want to go with someone who is
what? Unknown? Lacks personality? **nods**
Lacks acting skills **nods**
OK I guess he would be perfect for the role then

[identity profile] wraithfodder.livejournal.com 2010-02-28 12:55 am (UTC)(link)
I'd have to google him to rememember what he's done, but alas, am too lazy... ;)

[identity profile] wraithfodder.livejournal.com 2010-02-28 12:56 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah, USA or TNT or premium cable... more freedom to create on those shows. Salary wouldn't be as high (it would still be good though) but probably happier place to work.

Rockford Files

(Anonymous) 2010-02-28 01:45 am (UTC)(link)
What a shame Joe did not get the job. I have nothing against Dermot Mulroney. He is not right for the role. NBC went with someone who looks younger and has been in films. They are trying appeal to a younger audience who does not know the original Rockford. We will get told this show is the greatest thing since sliced bread. Joe will bounce back from this disappointment. If Joe was cast, I was looking forward to watching it. Now, I am not.

[identity profile] jedi40.livejournal.com 2010-02-28 02:35 am (UTC)(link)
FOOLS!!!!

[identity profile] black-raven135.livejournal.com 2010-02-28 02:49 am (UTC)(link)
All I remember was The Wedding Date with Deborah Messing
He was a male escort........like I believed it, but didn't matter
because she was blown over by his appeal
I could not see it, and sure didn't think it was worth what he
was charging her for a weekend date.
She did not have a date for her sister's wedding in London.

Re: Rockford Files

[identity profile] black-raven135.livejournal.com 2010-02-28 02:54 am (UTC)(link)
NBC went with someone who looks younger

Eh?
Dermott is pushing 50 (born in 1963)......hardly younger than Joe.
He has a ton of gray so they will have to do a dye job on him so another reason why hardly an appeal to a younger audience.
I have nothing against him personally, but he is as much
Rockford as Joe would be playing McKay

[identity profile] sgachick80.livejournal.com 2010-03-02 09:40 pm (UTC)(link)
im mad at this i cant believe they went with that fugly man and not with joe :( well i guess we will have to wait for the next jace hall video so we can see joe run around in that crazy outfit.

[identity profile] kodiak-bear.livejournal.com 2010-03-19 06:17 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm late, just started looking to see who they did cast and found this and boo is all I can say. The casting peeps really screwed up. They had an ace in the hole if they had thought outside the box and cast Joe F. The role was perfect for him. This new guy doesn't have that Rockford, gritty detective look at all. I've never even heard of him. WTH NBC, open up your eyes. Ah well, like everyone else has said, guess that means one less show to worry about watching.

[identity profile] wraithfodder.livejournal.com 2010-03-20 12:43 am (UTC)(link)
Yea, this is one less show I'm watching this fall.

[identity profile] flingslass.livejournal.com 2010-03-21 01:08 am (UTC)(link)
You need a charmer that can give the role the respect it deserves. I watched Rockford when it was rerun and I LOVED James Garner. I don't think DM has the charm or charisma to do justice to the role. Maybe they should get JG to play Rocky because with out a recognisable name, I can't see many watching it. Oh well.
