Stargate Atlantis' David Hewlett on the streets of Toronto

It is soooo good to be a packrat, not to mention a fan of early Canadian crime dramas, as all I had to do was dig into my boxes in the closet to find David Hewlett's 1987 appearance in the Canadian show Night Heat (starring Scott Hylands, who has appeared on Stargate SG-1, by the way). Anyway, David plays a male prostitute on the streets of Toronto.

I vaguely remember the show itself, but I definitely remember the "Crime Time After Prime Time" thing because I watched Forever Knight the first time around as part of that line-up.

It's always funny seeing stuff like this, where I'm left wondering if I watched it back in the day or not.

Heh, no, I just wanted to share. hadn't even known his part till I started watching and then thought, "oh, this will certainly fuel some McShep tales" ;) Yeah, it was on before Forever Knight. First it was Night Heat, then they added Adderly (oh, god, a whumper's dream come true!) and Diamonds and a few other shows I can't recall.

Night Heat was a Canadian show bought by CBS for "Crime Time After Prime Time" and used to air at 11:30 pm (where Letterman now resides, although Pat Sajak took the slot first). It ran from 1985-89.

The show ran from 1985-89 on CBS late night, which might explain why you hadn't seen it.

Wow, a bit of Hewlett I've never seen before! Look at his lovely mouth and big eyes. David sure played a lot of sleezy characters in his career. His innocent looks always makes it surprising to me when he's a prostitute, drug dealer or psycho.

But, damn, now I want to know what the story is, even if it's got nothing to do with his character.

Heh, I think he started off playing every sleazy psycho that there was! ;) Oh, the plot was about a guy looking for his son, who was I guess hooking on the streets of Toronto, and David was a male hooker who was one of his friends.

Boys of St. Vincents came out on pre-recorded DVD some time back - I have a copy :-) So far, only Season 1 of Beyond Reality is available on pre-recorded and DH was in two eps of season 2 :(

Oh, and after watching it a couple of times I have to say; wow, the guy's mouth looks huge when he's so slim.
