And, watching WAREHOUSE 13 and well, not feeling the love….

The pilot wasn’t incredibly thrilling (didn’t yank me in like STARGATE SG-1’s pilot, or STARGATE ATLANTIS’ pilot, or even EUREKA’s pilot). I was hoping, okay, this show is made in Toronto, I’ll check it out for Toronto-based actors. And well, I guess that’s what I’ll do. Since SyFy is repeating it left and right, it doesn’t matter if I miss the Tuesday showing, or I can tape, check credits, and watch later. Although I really like Saul Rubinek, it’s the two main characters who just aren’t clicking for me. I’m watching EUREKA and it’s fun this season, as it was last season. It’s a very fun show, not fannish for me, but fun to watch. My friend is buying the DVD sets slowly so I’ll just purloin, er, borrow them when she gets them all ;) Anyway, think that after JOE FLANIGAN appears on WAREHOUSE 13, it’ll be relegated to tape and watch…

And I’ve fallen awfully behind in email due to computer problems, time problems (not enough!) and family stuff which sucks up time. So, if you made a comment, I didn’t reply, it’s nothing personal. I’m trying to get through to reply to them all but if I miss, oops, sorry! I think on ‘squeeish’ posts like posting photos, I may have to not reply since there’s so much squeeing over Joe Flanigan pictures ;)

And I’m sitting here going ‘should I buy SG-1 “Children of the Gods”?? I mean, does it have anything really new? Any new good scenes? I’m tempted  but am trying to not use credit card. I’d rather get season five of EMERGENCY! Where Johnny gets hits by the car. Or if they did a new SGA “Rising” with added scenes, I’d be there in a flash! So, if anybody picks up COTG, let me know.

.

Yeah, that's the way I feel about Warehouse 13 too. I'm not caring about the main characters, at all. I find I'm only watching it to catch preview bits of Joe.

[identity profile] cimmerdeux.livejournal.com 2009-07-22 02:57 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah I've got to agree with you on Warehouse 13. As I understand it there is supposed to be a Hepburn/Tracy vibe between the two characters and well, they are soooo far away from that it's not even funny. I don't even get a Felix/Oscar vibe off the two or Muldaur/Scully or even Cagney/Lacey. This is no Eureka but I can see this being the 'direction' for Syfy. It 'looks' like it should be cool but it has no soul. I get the same feeling from the SGU promos - all surface looks with all the right parts, like a formula.

Contrast that to the Torchwood miniseries which I'm now watching, and me not even a Torchwood fan, and wow, it's like night and day. Well, I'll be there for Joe.

[identity profile] wraithfodder.livejournal.com 2009-07-22 11:54 am (UTC)(link)
I've heard a LOT of good about Torchwood. *shakes fist* at Cablevision for not carrying BBCA.

I'm just hanging on till Joe's episode, I'm fairly sure I won't be tuning in much after that. You are right, the two leads are just not "clicking."
An I agree with cimmerdeux above, SGU and W13 just seem to be productions where they are adding ingredients they think will make a hit show, but just can't get the taste quite right. Without that "soul" factor, there is just something missing.

[identity profile] vecturist.livejournal.com 2009-07-22 04:31 am (UTC)(link)
I'm watching W13 on hulu, that way I can do things like balance the checkbook and grade while I watch. I'm not that impressed so far, although Tricia Helfer had a fun little bit last week. Somehow it seems the chemistry doesn't quite work with the two leads, though.

I actually like Warehouse 13, it started off slow but I find myself interested in it. As for Eureka, I'm a big fan and it's not a new season, it's a continuation of the previous 7/8 episodes from season three, but I think they are just calling it a "new" season because there was a little more than a year in between the episodes. I am way behind on Torchwood and already missed the first part of COE so I am SOL. I can't bring myself to watch Stargate anymore because I just get incredibly pissed off at the cancellation, especially of SGA. Can't help it, it infuriates me that I won't see anymore of the city, learn more of the Ancients, have more stories about the Wraith and any other possible stories out there. I even gave up on reading Joe's blog.

Oh well...back to my frakking GRE studying. *pout*

Jumpin' in ;)

I gave up on reading Joe's blog too. It felt to me like he became really... snippy when people kept asking about SGA and the movie rather than glee with him en masse about SGU. Now, it's all about SGU and it feels like most of the SGA-only fans simply gave up on him.

[identity profile] wraithfodder.livejournal.com 2009-07-22 11:53 am (UTC)(link)
Well, new eps of EUREKA ;) I've given up trying to understand the mentality of networks and seasons ;)

But I am still waiting for the 'click' with the main characters. If it wasn't for Artie and potential SG actors showing up.... (insert ominous music) ;)

[identity profile] katikat.livejournal.com 2009-07-22 06:52 am (UTC)(link)
I have yet to watch W13 - the concept doesn't really appeal to me, I mean, it does sound a bit like The Middleman/X-Files/whatever and them blaring the possible romance between the main characters... err, I don't know - but I would buy CotG for a) the audio commentary since the S1 box set doesn't have any and b) for the remastered stuff - the S1 DVDs really aren't of good quality picture-wise, I mean.

But I would really prefer for them to stick their money into a new SGA movie than into the remastering of old stuff.

It reminded me a lot of Friday the 13th: THe Series last night... just not as dark.

Ditto on the 13 comments. Just not doing it for me. I'll stop watching after Joe's episode.

Thanks for all the con info! And I love the pics you took of the toys. I do that with mine on Twitter, lol.

Hey, I thought that you might want to know - Mark from Fandemonium sent me the release schedule for the rest of the year:

SG1-14 Valhalla by Tim Waggoner October 2009
SGA-12 Brimstone by David Niall Wilson & Patricia Lee Macomber November 2009
SGA-13 Dead End by Chris Wraight December 2009

I'm so disappointed that they moved the books so far back :(

[identity profile] wraithfodder.livejournal.com 2009-07-22 11:59 pm (UTC)(link)
I just copied a list from Amazon of the SGA novels last night and yeah, December! bummer :(

[identity profile] katikat.livejournal.com 2009-07-23 08:47 am (UTC)(link)
It so is *pouts* On the other hand, I do hope that the fact that "Brimstone" is co-written by a female author will mean NO MORE MESS-UPS of the "Halcyon" kind - that book was painful *cringes*

[identity profile] dejla.livejournal.com 2009-07-22 07:46 pm (UTC)(link)
I've actually become quite interested in the show, and I like both the main characters, although I'm less warm towards the guy.

I admit I don't have names memorized yet.

[identity profile] wraithfodder.livejournal.com 2009-07-23 12:00 am (UTC)(link)
Hmm, Eddie and Myka. I'd like Eddie to well, maybe mature a little ;)

[identity profile] dejla.livejournal.com 2009-07-23 02:57 pm (UTC)(link)
Yes, he's a little too bright-eyed and bushy-tailed, but he has promise.

[identity profile] mishbloom.livejournal.com 2009-07-23 01:53 am (UTC)(link)
When exactly is Joe's eppy on? 'Cause I need to make sure I tape that. *is in serious WITHDRAWAL* I could possibly combat this by watching SGA DVDs...but it's just not the same... *sigh*

[identity profile] wraithfodder.livejournal.com 2009-07-24 12:35 am (UTC)(link)
August 4th, then hopefully repeated against 2 times the following week :)
