DS9 is different than SGA as Worf was added and was not replacing another character.
I like Carter and I'm think that we could have had both her and Weir on the show. Maybe Weir in charge of Atlantis and Carter in charge of a ship that is permanently stationed at there.
While I loved Jewel Straite on Firefly, she can't replace Beckett.
I thought the show had a great cast for seasons 2-3. I didn't see any reason to shake it up.
