I like Doctor Who, and this is just icing on the cake! You'll recognize Ben Browder when you see him. Now to get the rest of the Stargate gang on it. Surely they need an evil villain with a good cackling laugh (aka David Hewlett)

wraithfodder: (McKay-this is cool)

Oooh. David Hewlett is gonna be in London... from Twitter today.

Great news! Well, what little there is of it... David Hewlett tweeted today:

Wow! Looks like I just got a nice little role in a HUGE movie...but I'm not allowed to say anything...following me sucks! ;-)

wraithfodder: (Brain)

I'm very glad I was not attached to seeing Ben Browder in Hellcats, in fact, I was, well, going to brace myself and watch a CW show just to see Ben, but while he was in the pilot, he will not be in the series. News just came out today. Apparently he's got other projects going (phew!)

I need a Ben Browder icon. ANy suggestions? Anyway...

HELLCATS (The CW) – Ben Browder (“Stargate SG-1″) has joined the cast of the presentation, a drama set in the world of competitive college cheerleading. He’ll reportedly play Red Irvine, Lancer University’s football coach, “a handsome rogue who never lost the boyishness of youth.” He and the Hellcats coach Vanessa Hodge (Sharon Leal) share a history – they had an affair while he, then married at the time, was an assistant coach and she was cheer captain – and now he wants payback (she dumped him after he left his wife without telling her) in the form of getting her fired after one of the Hellcats (Heather Hemmens) gets hurt. Aly Michalka, Ashley Tisdale, Elena Esovolova, Gail O’Grady, Matt Barr and Robbie Jones also star. Allan Arkush is directing the CBS Television Studios/Warner Bros. Television-based project from a script by Kevin Murphy.

JOE FLANIGAN - was the only male regular star on TV's SISTERS; co-starred
with Elizabeth Montgomery in her last TV movie; co-starred with Jacqueline
Bisset and Michael Onkean in a DANIELLE STEELE  epic for TV; co-starred with
Juliette Lewis in a film titled THE OTHER SISTER; he was co-star on the short
lived new series "FIRST MONDAY" which starred James Garner. Joe is now the
star of STARGATE: ATLANTIS. After doing so many pilots, this one sold. In a
recent phone call to Gerald, Joe stated that it's "kinda fun playing cops a
nd robbers with MACGYVER".

Then go to the gallery section and study that middle photo ;)

And, just out on the news, Ben Browder has joined the cast of the TV pilot HELLCATS. Yech, CW, but hey, it's work.

In other pilot castings, Ben Browder, repped by Gersh and Hank McCann, rounds out the series regular cast of the CW’s Hellcats.

Love in a Wormhole: SG-1/Atlantis Convention

Excerpt from this 11/12/2009 article, which has a nice picture of Joe Flanigan in it...

An audience of predominantly middle aged women gathered the weekend of Nov. 6-8 at the Los Angeles Marriott at LAX for Creation Entertainment’s Official Stargate SG-1/Atlantis Convention for a chance to melt at the sight of the Beatles of Stargate — hotties Michael Shanks, Joe Flanigan, Ben Browder, and perhaps the Ringo of the group, Paul McGillion.

Hee, it was a fun article to read, and also shows that conventions are NOT just teenagers (I think that may be reserved for Twilight conventions).

Meanwhile, Gateworld is reporting Stargate Atlantis will air at 10:00 pm. If so, why has the station spent probably hundreds of thousands of dollars on TV ads that say "9:00 pm"??? Yes, Skiffy's Schedulebot shows the 10:00pm slot, but they've goofed before.... so, I'll stick with 9:00 p.m. as long as the ads say it. If the schedulebot is correct, they'd better correct their ads or else they'll have a lot of people going "WTF?" when they tune it at 9pm and get Flash Gordon (which, to me, doesn't look all that enticing but I'll try out the first episode). Personally, I'd refer the 9pm slot so I can just turn off the tube at 10... ;)

http://jadexanadu.livejournal.com/1572.htmlStargate/Stargate Atlantis:  These panels were back to back, and are always fun to attend.  They playfulness of the panelists with each other and the audience is always great.  Though, they aren't big on giving out information.  They run a trailer at the beginning of the panel, and then just jump into questions from the audience.  I was 15 minutes late to Stargate SG-1, since it overlapped Shonen Jump, but it apparately started late and I only missed the trailer.  The two direct to DVD movies will be out in the Fall 07 and then Spring 08.  The Atlantis panel was filled with much of the same hi-jinks as SG-1, as half the panelists and most of the audience stayed for it.

http://www.animationmagazine.net/article/7166 - The Hensons offered a first look at Tinsel Town, a new puppet web series about a bull named Samson Knight and a pig named Bobby Vegan, a mismatched gay couple living in Hollywood. The episode was a big hit with the audience and is sure to garner a lot of attention when it hits the web. Also drawing uproarious applause was a surprise appearance by Farscape star Ben Browder, who put his hand up a puppet to help out with a live demo of Puppet Up: Uncensored, a live show the Jim Henson Co. puts on monthly in Hollywood.

Ah, there is some stuff still coming out on the con!

http://newtola.blogspot.com/2007/07/comic-con-2007-not-all-geeks.html posts a photo of 'that guy from Stargate Atlantis' - Joe Flanigan posing with his action figure!

http://www.thegeekbeat.com/home/jewel-staite-interview/ talked to Jewel Staite at Comic-Con and has the video online now. She talks about her character (very smart, shy, but "in her element" and "very, very capable." She said about her character replacing Beckett, she said "It felta little awkward at first... I definitely felt new," and explained how the set is like a family but everybody was nice, except David Hewlett, she said amusingly, who teased her a lot. What's been her least favorite moment on Stargate Atlantis - She got the second script and went "oh my god," as there was tons of medical technobabble. More at link above.

http://www.tentonhammer.com/node/9385 has put up the second part of their video of the press conference at Comic-Con. "The second part of our footage from the Stargate celeb panel focuses on the cast and crew present from the longest running sci-fi show in television history, Stargate SG-1. Amanda Tapping talks about the transition from SG-1 to the show's spinoff, Stargate Atlantis. Producer Robert Cooper shares his vision for the future of the franchise, a future that includes Stargate Worlds. Chris Judge (Teal'C) and Ben Browder (Cameron Mitchell) tell of their plans, and Christopher shares a very... special moment with Amanda Tapping. Part 1 (available at http://www.tentonhammer.com/node/9352) covers The crew discusses filming Continuum in the Arctic circle, Stargate Atlantis members discuss Season 3, Jewel Staite on moving from Firefly to Atlantis, and David Hewlett and Martin Wood on what's in store for Stargate Atlantis's fourth season

http://tsaxlady.blogspot.com/ covers Sanctuary.

Okay, a whole of links relating to Comic-Con - with Stargate Atlantis and Stargate SG-1 links

You can download the 10 minute video from that site. Torri appears at the 8:16 minute mark. Interview is about 2-3 minutes talking about science fiction concepts.

Just snippets from the news

Comic-Con
David Hewlett says on his Twitter that "Comicon schedule is getting worked out! Looks like we're going from 26th. to the 29th...Nerd-Party long-weekend San Diego-style." Ah, wish I were going. If you go, report back!! ;) Joe Mallozzi also said on his blog that Jewel Staite may appear at the SGA panel as well. So, David H, Amanda Tapping and possibly Jewel are on board for the panel.

Meanwhile, Ben Browder might be pretty busy. The Chicago Tribune reports that Farscape as mini episodes on the web. Cool. And, he's apparently doing a SciFi miniseries as well called Going Homer: "Here's Sci Fi's description of the project: "Greek and Roman deities walk among us, but only 12 year old Homer Ulysses Jones can see them
for what they truly are. When Homer and his father are forced to flee a custody battle that would likely separate them, they journey from Los Angeles to the home of their ancestors – in Ithaca, N.Y. As they travel through the heart of Americana, Homer's eyes will be opened to a mystical landscape of capricious Gods; some will help our heroes,
some will divert them and others will try to kill them to prevent them from reaching their ultimate goal – home."

Claudia Black will guest star in the NBC series Life and you can read a nifty interview with Claudia at If Magazine.

Meanwhile, U.S. viewers are probably aware that season 4 Stargate Atlantis begins September 28th (probably 9:00pm). Canadians will start seeing it October 1st on The Movie Network, a pay cable station; however, it's hard to tell if ALL of Canada gets it or not. Meanwhile, Movie Central in British Columbia will start showing season 3 repeats, probably 5 days a week. Not fair! And next Friday, according to a friend, "Common Ground" will be on Movie Central, against "Suspicion" on CITY TV.

Ah, commercial's almost over. Back to Joe Flangian on Tru Calling. Gads, this is probably weird to say, but he makes a good looking corpse. ;)

Amanda Tapping, one of the most beloved stars in the Stargate universe, travels to the Pegasus galaxy to join the Atlantis cast by reprising her role as television’s favorite astrophysicist, Lt. Colonel Samantha Carter. Taking the torch from SG-1 as television’s most thrilling adventure series, Atlantis promises to up the ante this season by introducing a powerful new race, welcoming new cast members, and mourning the loss of some beloved friends. On hand in addition to Tapping will be David Hewlett (Dr. Rodney McKay), Joe Mallozzi (executive producer/writer), Nora O’Brien (VP, original programming, SCI FI), Charlie Cohen (senior executive VP, MGM Studios), and Robert Cooper, executive producer/writer. Moderated by Gary Jones (Chief Master Sergeant Walter Harriman, Stargate SG-1). Ballroom 20

6:00-7:00 Babylon 5: The Lost Tales—Created by J. Michael Straczynski in 1993, Babylon 5 became an sf cult fan favorite and a top rated show.
