Let's see, first off, yes, Kate Hewlett has a guest role on the CTVC/CBS drama, FLASHPOINT! She tweeted today:

@katehewlett I get to be an uptight fiancee, a bitchy pregnant woman and a wounded mom all in one day. Acting rocks.

and the co-creator of Flashpoint tweeted today as well:

@Flashpoint_TV Great read through today. Terrific guest cast including @katehewlett

Now if CBS can get off their duff and give us Flashpoint again down here in the States. I love that show!!

----------------------

Stonehenge Apocalypse will premiere in June on SyFy. You go "What? Another dreadful CGI monster flick?" Well, yes, but Torri Higginson is in it (despite the lack of her name in the press releases). For those who must know the plot: When the giant stones of Stonehenge begin to move and cataclysms occur all over the earth, only a fringe radio talk show host who’s an expert in UFOlogy figures out that the ancient monument is really alien technology. Yeah, sounds... just like the title *cough* ;)

----------------------

Meanwhile, some nice press on Jason Momoa and the Conan the Barbarian movie (besides the 'he's awful pretty to be Conan" using an old Baywatch picture). http://www.comicbookmovie.com/fansites/GulfCoastAvengers/news/?a=16478 says ....  Patrice Louinet who has studied, worked on and edited the works of Conan creator Robert E. Howard for decades, was able to take a look at some Conan set pictures belonging to Fredrik Malmberg Conan's producer.

Here is what he had to say (In translated text).....

"Got to see Fredrik Malmberg, who showed me a few pics - pre CGI - of Jason Momoa as Conan. Despite this, these pics were enough to convince me a bit more that Momoa is an excellent Conan, as far as his looks is concerned. He is very close to the character as described by Howard: he is hairy, dark, scarred and muscular yet lithe, devoid of the body-builder physique syndrome. Really impressive. More, Momoa has taken the Howard books with him, often reading a few passages for himself before shooting to get into his character."

---------------------------------

And drat, no news on Joe Flanigan. Gah, I want him to get a new series, or a really great movie (cuz at this rate, I not holding out at all for any SG1 or SGA movies). David Hewlett finished his directorial debut of some unnamed scifi movie for SyFy which has 'evil snow monkeys' but that could just as easily be a pet name. Filmed in snowy Bulgaria, although he could have stayed in the States and filmed cheaper what with all the snow we've had here. Nothing new on Rachel Luttrell. I wish she'd put out a CD...

Okay, my condolecences to fans of CBS' Numb3rs show. It's being cut show, and cancelled, and according to one article, CBS will slot in Flashpoint in the Friday, 10:00 p.m. slot come February. Now, I suppose Sanctuary will be on then, but for me, it's a no-brainer. Flashpoint! Sanctuary will repeat at midnight so I can catch it then.

I'm a happy camper, well, come February, that is...

Meanwhile, had a nice 'Indian summer' day today, which meant I painted two outside doors so now at least they'll look decent through the winter. Ack, darn, ,should have done something on the cellar door. Oh, wait, maybe tomorrow. No, darn. have to work. *headdesk* Did get a lot of leaves raked and afterwards, immediately took shower, and there, spinning in the water - deer tick! - evil purveyor of Lyme Disease! Down the drain it went. Die die die....

Well, first this snippet, which I hope is wrong...

http://www.allheadlinenews.com/articles/7014992988
May 01  2009 - CBS will see the returns of all three series of "CSI," "The Big Bang Theory," "How I Met Your Mother," "The Mentalist," "Ghost Whisperer," "NCIS," "Rules of Engagement," "Two and Half Men," and "Numb3rs." "Flashpoint" and "Harper's Island" won't be returning to the network. Meanwhile, the fates of "The New Adventures of Old Christine," "Gary Unmarried," "Without a Trace," "Eleventh Hour," and "The Unit."

WHAT?! Nooooooooooooooo..................... How am I going to watch Flashpoint???? Hopefully this is all speculation. I swear, any time I get hooked a show it gets cancelled or (if canadian) yanked from US schedule.

Just read a Flashpoint script and now trying not to cry in public! Sad & well-written. Would love to be on Flashpoint...with V Mars's dad!

Very cool! I really hope Kate can be on Flashpoint as that show is doing very well in two countries (dont' know about the rest of the world yet) and would be wonderful exposure for her, plus I think she'd be great on it. :)

First, you can send a Valentine on your favorite CBS show at http://www.fridaynightlove.com/ - Flashpoint or Numb3rs.  Here's one of the Flashpoint ones. Okay, I find sending Valentine cards with guys with guns in the pictures to be ... odd... but hey, I'll take the photos :)

Also, Chicago Tribune entertainment columnist Maureen Ryan pointed out this hysterical video of Darth Vader and a bunch of stormtroopers dancing to Michael Jackson's THRILLER (at the 3 minute mark) at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UkTQwP2gFxU  I had no idea they had Star Wars dance-offs. So much more fun than Dancing with the Stars!

Jessica Steen played Dr. Weir in the SG-1 episodes of Stargate SG-1, but got replaced by Torri Higginson in the show. Wait, why am I saying this? Everybody knows it, right?

Anyway, a tiny shot of Jessica from the CBS coffers.

For the Stargate Atlantis fans, a mention of Jessica Steen's upcoming role in the CBS/CTV drama Flashpoint....

New York Daily Vue (from NY Daily News newspaper)

Feb 01 2009 – Flashpoint’s Colantoni gets fed information

Crew people sometimes know things before actors are on a series, says Flashpoint star Enrico Colantoni. “I hear I might actually go out on a date,” the actor says of his divorced character, Sgt. Greg Parker. “I got that from the hair and makeup people.” According to him, the only person who really has the inside scoop on his CBS series about a team of elite crisis-managing cops “is the craft services lady. She seems to know everything.” He got info on the new character being played by Jessica Steen – filing in for Amy Jo Johnson, who has been on maternity leave – by visiting the craft services table as well. In the story arc developing this month, Steen is “sort of the catalyst that disrupts the flow of the team.”

Ah hah, a Stargate Atlantis angle to the CBS/CTV series Flashpoint.

Starting this month, Jessica Steen (the original Dr. Weir in Stargate Atlantis) will begin to shoot episodes of Flashpoint, playing a character who is subbing for actress Amy Jo Johnson’s character (the actress recently had a baby). No word yet on the airdates, but keep tuned to www.jessicasteen.com for information on her appearance, plus other shows she’s appearing in.

And below the cut, more Flashpoint-specific articles…

I decided, since I actually had some time to kill while the washing machine, well, washed, to poke around Google news, so I did a search for “Flashpoint CBS”, as searching for just flashpoint gets me a ton of non-Flashpoint (the show) articles. .There are some which are nice big articles, so I’ve noted to read “rest at link above”…So, all the Google news articles on the second season. Haven’t had time to poke through plain old Google. Do I really need another fandom? Hmm, thinking, thinking…

Wow, that episode of Flashpoint just... well, it rocked! Rest of review, 'cuz no doubt it will have some spoilers, under the cut.

FLASHPOINT #203 commentary )
wraithfodder: (flashpoint)
Ah, this coming Friday's Flashpoint looks good:

In this week’s FLASHPOINT episode, entitled “Haunting the Barn” (airing Friday, January 23 at 9 p.m. ET on CTV), when a former SRU cop snaps and storms the headquarters, intent on committing suicide, the Team is forced to use every trick in the book on a subject who knows all the tricks. And Ed (Hugh Dillon) is forced to confront a man whose future could very well be his own, if he doesn’t finally face his demons. Ron Lea (ANNE OF GREEN GABLES: A NEW BEGINNING), Brenda Bazinet (M.V.P.) and Pascale Hutton (INTELLIGENCE) guest-star.

Rest of press release below the cut )
wraithfodder: (Shep-this sucks)
TV seems.... empty. I mean, for years, there it was - Stargate Atlantis - at 9:00 or 10:00 and then repeated so if the dumb Skiffy channel screwed up and digitized Shep's face into a bunch of little boxes, I could get a better copy two hours later.

Now. Zip. Well, on SciFi. I have no problem watching Flashpoint on CBS - I think the show is great - particularly Hugh Dillon. Yet, even as I'm watching it, I'm going, "wait, she was on Stargate!" Yes, it doesn't matter. I play 'spot the Stargate' actor on any Canadian production now. Anyway, next week's episode looks fantastic from the snippets they showed.

Meanwhile, Stargate Universe... Mallozzi said on his blog : "SGU will definitely be more of an arc-driven series. Although it will have its fair share of stand-alone and multi-parters, the show will have more season-long plot and character threads running through every episode." To me, this is all beginning to sound very "Battlestar Galactic-y". Right now, after the initial casting stuff is all out (still waiting for any female actors to be announced), I'm like... meh... When SGA came out with cast names, I went, "who the heck is Joe Flanigan? but omygawd, they got David Hewlett!" I just don't have the enthusiasm, even with Robert Carlyle, for this show. I think his acting talents will outweigh the writing talents (well, some of them, I should say *cough*).

Also, blast, darn, drat (instead of really swearing). SGU won't premiere till the Fall, which will probably push the SGA movie back till ... when? Definitely 2010, I'm sure but when? Gah... What kills me is that SGA is syndicating in my market - at two in the friggin' A.M.! Ack, I work for a living, I can't stay up that late watching it! If I pop in a DVD it's far to addictive to stop, so save those for weekends.
wraithfodder: (Jeannie-Sheppard)

Think I'll finally realize Stargate Atlantis is toast, dead, gone, only on DVD, when Friday rolls around and I don't have to decide which to watch: SGA or Flashpoint. Now, I can watch Flashpoint with no problem, as Friday's no longer has anything on Sci Fi worth watching (I tried Battlestar Galactica several tilmes, but eh, just doesn't click. Maybe when it's done and over and I can just rent the DVDs and do marathons...) Anyway, in fact, there's not much on SciFi to watch. Period. Maybe a tacky, crappy scifi/horror/pitiful CGI monster flick if an actor I like shows up in one...

Anyway, was thinking, gee, what is on TV nowadays...
Monday... Big Bang Theory. A total hoot. David Hewlett must guest star in it. He must! He's the ultilmate geek character. Still watch CSI: Miami, probably in the way a person drives by a car wreck and gawks.
Tuesday: NCIS, Mentalist, Law & Order SVU (the latter if I bother to stay up late - it syndicates to much I can catch it anyway)
WednesdayCriminal Minds, here and there, and CSI: NY, which is now the best of the CSI
ThursdayUgly Betty, cuz it's cute; CSI (until it ends) and Eleventh Hour, which is turning out better than I thought it would, although I must remember to watch the very very last ER whenever that airs.
Friday: Oh hey, I can just wallow in Ghost Whisperer, delight in Flashpoint (wonder if it will become a cult hilt like Due South did years ago?), and then maybe flick over to Psych.
Saturday: Catch repeats of anything I didn't see, as Saturday is now rerun-alley on all the channels, I swear.
Sunday: There's something on TV on Sunday??

So, no new fandoms really, but I am enjoying Flashpoint just on its own merits. It's a cop show, there's a buddy aspect to it, Hugh Dillon is fantastic in it, Stargate Atlantis/SG1 actors have shown up in (Alisen Down, once on Mysterious Ways and as Dr. Brightman on an SG-1 ep, is on this week's episode as a hostage). I must admit I also like the fact that at least you know who the good guys are. So many shows now are so 'gray' - good guys torturing people, etc. that, well, I want one nice bit of fantasy. And hey, the Toronto locales, etc. and the cast, sure aren't hard to look at either ;)

Oh, took the plunge and pre-ordered the series 3 Stargate Atlantis Action Figures (with Ronon, another Sheppard, Carter, Teyla and a Wraith drone). Once they come, I can gear up on Action Figure Theater. Must also remember to find some cheap railroad tracks *evil cackle*

A Saskatchewan Screamer is headed this way. Apparently, according to a weather guy on TV, they name the Arctic blasts out of Canada according to which province they come from. Wonder what other names they've thought up? Anyway, it's down to single digits on Friday, and that's the static temp, before windchill kicks in. Must remember to toss out extra birdseed, etc. this week for the poor critters.

Hmm, can wild animals eat marshmallows?

Oh yeah, and I got my tickets for Comic Con! (February7th, the NYC one- wish I could afford the San Diego one!) Anyone else going to the NYC one?
