I didn't see it that way. This is the same problem they ran up against in "Trinity," where Rodney is POSITIVE the science will work but Sheppard can't afford the luxury of not a 100% option. Rodney couldn't really deliver that. Considering the stress level was through the roof, I can see people yelling at each other.
