In the latest screwup with Stargate Atlantis (the first being 'screener copies' of "Adrift" and "Lifeline" getting leaked out), now iTunes (aieee!) released "Doppelganger" instead of "Adrift." While a number of fans got their hands on it, the vast majority can't see it (iTunes apparently yanked it after probably informed by MGM - I'd love to have heard that phone conversation, or email (all in caps, I'm sure). I can sure see why NBC doesn't want anything to with iTunes as heck, they'd probably release HEROES out of order! ;) NBC was sooo right to sever ties with iTunes as this could conceivably harm SGA ratings for this episode. I mean, why watch it if you've got it on download? Sigh.

So, now must avoid certain forumsthreads until October 19th as some folk give away too much even in what they consider to be 'vague' comments. Sigh.

Yeah, trying to find an 'independent' DVR burner is a LOT harder than it was last year, and the guy at the store said "Tivo" was cornering the market.

I'm not that much into news on music downloads, but one guy at work gripes constantly about iPods due to their flaws - I have to find out which he buys and NOT buy it as he's had nothing but problems with in. Me, I'm still stuck in the buy music on CD era. Heck, I still have vinyl records. ;)

I do remember some big bruhaha over music CDs or something that downloaded software or anti-piracy stuff, a couple years back.

Ah, but iPhone went along with it. Doesn't really matter as I have no desire to own an iPhone (which I think was featured rather prominently on CBS's MOONLIGHT by the way). But AT&T... man, they screwed up our billing so bad...

Yeah, I can watch EUREKA online but not SGA. So darned annoying. Probably Universal or MGM's doing. I mean, they even ban overseas fans from watching Comic-Con panel videos, which I think it absurd as hello, shouldn't they want to advertise/build an audience?

So, yeah, its Apple you need to thank for DRM free music.

Not really. The reality of it is, record companies know they cannot turn the tide of illegal downloading while these restrictions are in place. How can they expect people to pay for something so heavily restricted when you can get something you can do what you like with for free?

If you want to thank something for DRM-free music, thank BitTorrent for it's continual existence forcing the industry's hand.

Oh, I guess I'm clueless, but what does "bricked" mean?

I think one I detest about any cellphone is how stupid it makes the user. Every day I'm dodging people on the highway yakking into cellphones and not paying attention to driving. Sigh...

Yeah, I guess I'm on the other side. I love my iPod, and would be lost without it. And if it has flaws, I have yet to find out what they are in the almost two years since I've had mine. Most everyone I know is the same. I think the only person I know who has ever had a problem, had it with the Shuffle. Apparently, those little things seize up.

Ugh, I know. I feel the same way about not being able to watch Torchwood or Doctor Who over here, cause BBC does the same thing.

Silly industry. I get the feeling that they're all of two minds about everything. There's the free-wheelers, who get that things like YouTube clips and Fanfiction and Comic-Con vids are free advertising and major word of mouth marketing, then you've got the other side, the penny pinchers, who only listen to their advertisers and can't think outside the box. I think there's a few more years to go before it all settles, though. I have no idea right now, who is going to win. Knowing Apple's track record with things, though...it'll probably be Microsoft. LOL!

Bricked is the state whereby your phone will not work and is basically, a brick...or would be in years gone by...

If you update the firmware of the phone over the crack it will cause your phone to lock up apparently...

Yeah, despite that being illegal here, you still see it way too often.

Going into v-fib! Quick! Get me some IV fluids! Wide open! And some Epinephrine! STAT!

I love that I never have any idea what all that means, but I put it into fics anyway! ROFL!

It was out of warranty - just out of warranty I might add - when this started. I had a 2nd gen iPod that still had more life in it than that piece of crap did.

I have a Creative Zen Vision now, which to be honest, has way more handy features, like the ability to take advantage of the PictBridge technology in digital cameras so you can move your pics directly from the camera to the player. Handy for a photographer if you have run out of space on your memory card.

I don't know How I'm going to survive until a month from now to see Doppelganger.
I must say even if I did see it thru itunes I would steel tune in,just because, even though I don't have a rating box whatever the name of it is.

Am I a bad person for trying to find that episode online, or just a fan with little to none self control =(

If the entertainment industry actually followed what's going on out there in the world, they'd realize that die-hard fans will do whatever to get their stuff. So, the industry should learn from this and then capitalize off it, intead of going "this way is fine the way it is." Or, they try to buy it out.

Aww! Me too! I've VHS tapes filled with them! God, I was so in love with Johnny Gage. I think I even wrote a Mary Sue about it when I was 12 or so. Sigh. Good times...long time ago...

I need to find those tapes.

How childish am I?

I can't believe they killed another character. And there are rumours about another one being offed after this. What the hell is this? Survivor: Atlantis?

I watch shows for the characters, not for the special effects, so I'm thinking this is definitely where SGA and I part company..

iTunes really are incompetent! I seem to remember them releasing the wrong episode last season too. I just hope that people in the US still watch it on TV, because SGA really needs the ratings this year.

True - but then the industry is not all that interested in the die-hard fans. They want the casual viewers - mostly because there are so many more of them then there are of us.

I'll watch, but I don't have a Nielsen box, so I apparently don't count.

I know people like me make up a smaller percent of the population, but what about us second-shifters (3p-11:30p in my case) who can't watch it live? Probably a good thing I don't have a box.... ;-D Cause I always watch it on TV, even if I downloaded, because I want a taped copy....but it's usually Saturday morning I get to it. (This is not directed to you in particular, but the universe in general, because despite the changes, I love SGA and want to do what I can to keep it going...but all I hear from TPTB is "watch it live, watch it live".... ;-D)

I dread to think if they remade that show now. Oh wait, they sort of have with ER. Paramedics punching people. Aieee! I got all three seasons of Emergency on DVD. Must rewatch 'em all.

Yeah, this is going to dent the 'watch it live' numbers as some people won't care if they watch it on a little iPod compared to a TV. I want to see SGA keep going (as long as they don't kill off more major characters). The thing is that the Nielsen people need to get out of the dark ages (TV only) and realize that downloads make up a considerable amount of viewing. If they counted *cough* illegal downloads, SGA would be in the top 10 shows ;)

Hell, even if they counted legal downloads, it'd be up there. A lot of people, not just in sci-fi land, watch TV on their computers these days.

I sure hope nobody else dies. I haven't heard of anybody dying past Beckett, but then the spoilers are (thankfully) incomplete. I don't want to know everything about the show.
