Stargate Atlantis's Season 4 ratings for "Adrift"

Hmm, hard to figure out.

USA Today posted:  Showtime's Dexter (1 million viewers) and Brotherhood (371,000) and Sci Fi's Ghost Hunters (2 million) and Stargate: Atlantis (1.7 million) started new seasons. TBS' House of Payne (3.3 million) and VH1's Rock of Love (a big 5.4 million) ended theirs (except for Rock's reunion Sunday, 8 ET/PT).

Gateworld reported 1.2 for "Adrift," but doesn't know what those ratings are (live, etc.).

Joe M said they hadn't factored in the DVRs as of yesterday, so I wonder if the 1.7 million (or 1.2) is before or after the DVR ratings.

I think the numbers released already are what they call the "overnights": the first calculation of live viewers. I believe the final numbers, factoring in DVR usage and adjusting in mysterious ways for various other variables, come out a week or so after airing. So I believe the 1.2 is the number Mallozzi refused to release on his blog (and it's not good for the season premiere; he's doubtless hoping the final announcement will be better).

Sadly, after adjustment, it won't be much higher, I suspect. What does SciFi expect after leaking rough cuts of the first two episodes and putting the premiere against the new fall season on the networks? (Hey, with Bionic Woman, I'm actually watching a show on one of the old networks for the first time in years!)

We did our bit: we watched via our TiVo, which allowed us to go back when we missed lines and means we'll count in some teeny tiny way towards the adjusted number. We're a fractional family!

I want s5. I'm seriously considering writing to SciFi, but I have no idea if that will make any difference.

I belive how it works is 1.2 is the "share" or the "rating." And the 1.7 is the millions of households. I remember in the "old" days, they would talk about SG-1 being watched by over 2 million households, but I don't believe their ratings were ever quite that high.

You know, they are disappointed, but *I* think those ratings are exceptionally good, considering that they are going up against first-run episodes on the major networks. This is something that no Stargate has ever had to do on a regular basis before. If they had started in the summer, up against nothing, I'm sure they'd have done much better. I don't know if this is a case of Sci-Fi setting them up for failure, or if Sci-Fi actually wanted to really compete against the networks.

I know myself I had to have three recording devices going last week, what with Numbers and now Tom Selleck coming to Vegas. Vegas is a stupid show, and NOTHING like the real Vegas, but Tom Selleck! Needless to say, if I were a Nielsen person, I'd be watching SGA LIVE on BOTH feeds, but I'm not, so I recorded everything.
