Exactly! He needed something that was, at the very least, a cinamatic (sp?) speciality, at least as good as Teyla's or Keller's. Sort of mind-warpy, makes no sense to anybody but him thing. Either that, or something very number-ific, if that makes sense. Kind of like a Harper-Andromeda / matrix thing. Again, if that makes any sense. Hopefully you're a fan.
But then there's the fact that his oh so 'normal' dream seemed exactly what he expected- after having told Sheppard that he was a tad... messed up. So, as normal as his dream is compared to other people, he still feels that it's way out-there. Enough so to warn people off when its his life on the line (and really, have you ever seen Rodney try to stop someone from saving his life? Even just as a percaution thing?) I don't know where this ramble is going, I just think its a cool look into his psyche that as normal as his dream is, he doesn't realize how much weirder and more illogical other peoples dreams are in comparison.
