If it helps, I've been on Tripod forever. Well, for about ten years now (that's like centuries in the internet world! LOL), without any complaints. It's a very simple interface, and I upload using a standard FTP protocol, though I think you can upload directly to their website if you don't have an FTP that you use.

Worth checking into, at any rate. I have the "Pro" version, so I do pay a small amount for no ads and bigger bandwidth and stuff.
Meanwhile, I do keep meaning to get my own domain, but I just never got around to it. But, if you *do* think about getting your own domain, I'd check out www.godaddy.com -- they're inexpensive and have gotten great reviews for both service and reliability. It's not much more than what you would pay for an upgraded service from tripod or any other the other web hosters....
