I have my site on Tripod and can recommend it. It has a very easy to use FTP (if you don't have a FTP uploader, try Filezilla, it's free and I've had no problems with it) and you can create pages onsite if you don't want to use FTP (I prefer to use Nvu to create pages and then upload them; Nvu is free but limited and has a tendency to crash now and then, but hey, it's FREE!! It does have a html option for techies.*g*).
Anyway, the basic tripod is free, I pay a nominal charge for the next level up.
