excerpt as all the articles are the same...

The Glaswegian will lead a motley crew on a voyage across the universe in a new sci-fi series based on the hit Stargate movie and TV franchise.

That move will pave the way for a rival to take control of the Tardis when the next Doctor is announced later this week

Cool. Yes! We hear who the new Doctor Who will be this week? However, I do suspect I'll go "who?" (bad pun) as it will no doubt be an actor from the UK and since not a lot of UK stuff gets to the States except for PBS "Inspector Lynley" stuff, I'll have to research him. Her? Who?

At the moment James Nesbitt's name seems to be coming up. He'd be okay.

This is him, some amusing stuff from Cold Feet:

One of my favourite British actors is Stephen Tompkinson, but it won't be him...

This is something from him:

My friend told me Russell Tovey is a possible, which I think is stupid. He already played a character on the Titantic episode and he looks about 15. I hope that actor is just a gross rumor and not actual fact.

Russell Tovey was mentioned by Russell T Davies as his pick for a "future Doctor" but that means nothing as Davies is no longer showrunner so he'll play no part in the decision.

The favourite to play Who for some time has been a guy called Patterson Joseph, I did a massive post back when Tennant's leaving was first announced detailing what odds the bookies were giving on various actors.

I know it isn't even a long shot, but sind Dhew just twittered that he's off to the UK for a month, my fannish heart likes to pretend it will be him.

I'm actually surprised they'll make the announcement before airing the Christmas special. It does air on Xmas day, right?

I'm lucky enough to get BBC America, so I get a lot more UK stuff that way. Plus Netflix has a lot of stuff on DVD. I have a hard time watching the mystery series on PBS, because I always end up missing a part.

I'd like to pretend as well, but I think maybe we'd have a better shot at him getting a guest starring role. Or if we're really lucky, a new companion. [crossing fingers]

Hopefully it will be someone good:) They seem to choose good actors so I'm not really worried. I'm hoping for Matthew McFadden even though I'm about 99% sure that will never happen. I'd be 100% sure but you should never say never:)

A British actor who has done, um, er, movies. Saw him on a link of prospects. Think you need to go up several comments on this page until you see the link about 'bookies.'

I love Peter Clifford. He's so cute! I never thought I'd say that about a character that's a priest, but he's just a nice, good sort of character.

I take it you mean Nesbitt, since he's the one they're talking about as a possible Dr?

That's for sure!

I'm not sure which will bring the most change to the series -- a new Doctor or a new showrunner.

It is rather refreshing that British shows and actors seem to have a better grasp of being able to quit while you're ahead. Sure, there's decades worth of Doctor Who, but it wasn't churned out season after season like an American network would demand.

I'd rather wait and get quality dining instead of being in a rush and only having time for fast food. I'm much the same with my TV viewing.

He played The Doctor in the Comic Relief special Curse of Fatal Death with Rowan Atkinson in 1999. He was brilliant!

Yeah, here everything is copied off UK shows or mass produced (like a gazillion CSI clones)...
