Hmm, yeah, it is sorta weird/lame that none of our EArth allies bothered to help us, but then who knows, they might have said "hmm, not OUR problem".
And whereas that would have been very much like the Tok'ra (not so much the Jaffa -- honor is a powerful motivator), the fact that they did so would have been important to show.
Oh yeah, sending a nuke through the gate to the hive ship would have made sense...
