Oh, I cannot stop myself from commenting on this ;)

Ooookay. Sorry to say but I am skeptical of all remakes. Only 1% seem to do well, and the rest are just dreadfu (i.e., Knight Rider). Oddly enough, it’s ABC that’s resurrecting NBC’s scifi seriers “V”. Now, the miniseries “V” was great; the series though died a prolonged and painful death that was far too long in coming. First, they got rid of Ham (Michael Ironside) – best character the show had. They had the miracle-gro baby who turned into a blonde babe, and let’s all try to forget the Charles-Diana reptilian wedding. Gah…if you don’t know what I’m talking about, you are soooo lucky,

Anyhoo, Variety (at http://www.variety.com/article/VR1117999086.html?categoryid=14&cs=1) reports that ABC has greenlit a pilot for a reworking (which in this case, could probably only help) of the miniseries. What does look good is that “New adaptation of the franchise was written by "The 4400" co-creator/exec producer Scott Peters.” I loved 4400; hopefully the same feel can translate over to V. Meanwhile, quibbling a little over “The new "V" centers on Erica Evans, a Homeland Security agent with an aimless son. When the aliens arrive, her son gloms on to them -- causing tension within the family.” Cuz don’t we have enough aimless kids on TV already?? But really, paranoia should reign with “Like the original, show centers on visitors who say they've come to help the Earth -- but their motives are nefarious.” I mean who has not seen the Twlight Zone episode of “To Serve Man’?? Anyway, I just look at this and go, hmm, maybe. And think. Whoa, Joe Flanigan isn’t working at the moment. He’d be great (sure, I’m biased, but he’s working sci-fi now and knows the ropes – and “Vegas” shows he can do cop stuff too!) Or Joel Gresch. He was great on The 4400, or better yet, both of them. Yeah, I'd love to see both of them in the same show again.

I was thinking if someone can turn Battlestar Galactica into a sophisticated show, what could the right people do with V?

It could be great or it could jump the shark 5 minutes into the pilot. Who knows? I loved the miniseries.

Oh I so loved that mini series, it was great fun. I hope it's a go. Perfect casting choice of Joe. Hey' we've already seen him with snake eyes in Conversion; why not have him play a Visitor instead? Kidding, although......

V is one of my all time favorites but I too am skeptical about this. Kenneth Johnson isn't even involved!

Ahhhhh, come on Charles was really really HOT. Can't believe you didn't like the wedding to Diana!

Why not both Joe F & Joel? Now that would be a terrific show.

Ohhhh... Do you think Joe Flanigan could fit into Marc Singer's sprayed-on jeans?

I heard about this remake a few months back and I'm just holding my breath. I loved the mini-series, but the regular show was godawful. And having been supremely pissed off by the crappy remake of The Day the Earth Stood Still, I'm pretty down on re-does right now.

Getting rid of Ham was a terrible mistake. I also liked Martin, the good alien, and they killed him off--and then brought in his twin brother, apparently because the actor's other projects fell through! But Ham was more important to the show.

You know, I had successfully forgotten that until now! That's the second time this week someone has reminded me of an SF moment I'd managed to forget!

I liked Joel Gresch too. I did not know he'd been in anything with Joe Flanigan.

Oh what fun! I love V! And I love 4400. Hopefully the two will jive!

I *love* V but yes the tv series was dreadful. But there's hope, we need some good sci-fi and yes, Joe F is available *cough, cough*.

In the right hands, this could be great. In the wrong hands...well...*sigh*

NCIS is doing a spin off and I can see Joe doing that show. He would make a good FBI Agent on that show and the producer who created the show is very good at keeping the people he puts in any of his series working in future stuff as well.

I loved 'V'. And Ham was my favourite. Especially as Michael Ironside was what you'd call 'rugged' :D (Couldn't stand Marc Singer). I must say I'd rather a retelling than what Kenneth Johnson wanted and just wipe out the second miniseries as if it never happed. Do that with the series, it WAS lame. Just leave Ham and Chris (his offsider) alone.

Wow that brings back memories.
I remember being a sullen teenager wanting to do bodily harm to my parents because they MADE the whole family sit and watch the mini-series!! I didnt want to admit that I ended up loving it hahaha.

cant wait to see what comes of this =]

Oh, V. That show scared the hell out of me as a kid. Then I re-watched it last year and laughed out loud. Really? That's what I was scared of? Funny how your childhood loves and fears are so different when you're an adult.

I wrote this project off as a loss the second I heard about it. Part of the "reimagining" involves leaving out all the Nazi and holocaust allegories. Without that, all that's left is a run-of-the-mill alien invasion story.
