Jan 26 2009 - Flashpoint (Fridays, CTV, CBS, 9 p.m.) came back recently and is the rare case of a crime drama that just gets better. From its original premise - a Strategic Response Unit handles big, dangerous situations, but there's as much drama inside the heads of the main characters - it has evolved into a compelling, weekly story about the psychology of police work. It's never as predictable as it seems and the core cast of characters have grown to become nuanced individuals. And the use of distinct new characters every week to propel the story has worked superbly, showcasing great Canadian actors.
Jan 26 2009 - “Ghost Whisperer” at 8 p.m. and “Numb3rs” at 10 p.m. were each up 0.3 among 18-49s versus the previous Friday, according to Nielsen overnights, while 9 p.m.’s “Flashpoint” improved by 0.1. … CBS led again at 9 p.m. with a 2.4 for “Flashpoint,” while Univision remained second with a 1.9 for “Fuego en la Sangre.” Fox was fourth with a 1.7 for “Don’t Forget the Lyrics,” ABC fourth with a 1.6 for “Supernanny,” NBC fifth with a 1.4 for “Friday Night Lights” and CW sixth with a 0.5 for “13 – Fear is Real.”
