Maybe the battles to maintain the character as it was originally envisioned was too much. I would fall out of love if I had that albatross Mallozzi around my neck daily too. The battle becomes a ((((((daily)))))) diatribe..... I can relate from my last job which I loved but the battles were daily............ After awhile no matter how much you love it, the daily grind begins to wear you down.......... I believe you describe exactly what happened.... I watched the pilot the other day and you can really see the difference.
