I really like Joe Flanigan. Really, I do. But. But... $500 (opening bid) for cocktails with him? And this isn't you and him, it's you and other fans, so if one is really obsessive, you've paid $500 to be a doormat...

From an email

Starting at $500 and you can put it on a payment plan! But hey, you get *snacks*. The whole ala carte pricing of this con would kill me. I mean the gold ticket is something like $500, then if you want set tours, more, and photo ops, and autographs and well, best wishes to those who can afford this. I only would hope they'd post about it on the web for the rest of us to live vicariously through them...

For $500 I don't want a casual talk I want a very, very formal talk. A NAKED formal talk.

Each winning bidder will receive two complimentary beverages to lubricate this special event.

Lubricate, huh. Hey, maybe you do get more bang for your buck than I thought.

Just another way for Cretin Con to make money, though Joe is probably getting something for this unlike the lower ranks of people from the show who don't even get a cut of the extra autograph sales.

If people are stupid enough to pay that much money, it's their business really. Cretin Con will supply if there is demand. This is why I'm not in any hurry to go to another Creation event.

Does Creation have idea what 'lubricate' is usually used for? Nah, probably not. Can you imagine a fan going up to JOe with some drinks and say "here, you want to be lubricated?" Bwahaha! Gah, Creation needs to rethink what they write... ;)

$500 I want a two hour sit down dinner with champagne!

The last creation I was at they served dessert in cheap plastic cups. Was not impressed. and now, real life stuff takes precedence over cons, so, may have to skip 'em all this year. :(

Well, just to point out the autographs and the set tour are included in the price but yeah at least last year they had twice the amount of guests. Shouldn't be complaining cause I'm going to it but yeah I know why people call it Cretin.

Well, unless you live in vancouver, there's passport fee (if you don't have one), airfare, hotel... I think if you did whole schmeer you could easily hit $2K US.

Since you're going, can I beg/plead/etc for a nice big huge con report, at least on the Joe part???

"Hey, I payed $500 bucks and heard that this is a special event where I get to be up close and personal with lubrication. Why are your pants still on?"

And he never did another con again. :(

So glad I finished swallowing my orange juice before I opened this comment! ;) Yeah, it's a loaded question!

Yeah, I guess if I didn't live so close I probably wouldn't be going. I live in Alberta so its not that far, I mean if I really wanted I could drive but a 15 hour car ride doesn't appeal to me.

Of Course :) I'm even sitting fairly close to the stage so you might get some nice pictures :D

Whoa Mama!

That's a lot of moolah! $500 and you have to share him with 8 other people.....people who may hog all the Joe time up and you wouldn't be guaranteed to get a word in edgewise....but at least you'd get snacks.

Lubricate......heh....heh...

Of course they never have decent cons in my neck of the woods, save the NY Comic Con.

That's such a risk, as anybody who is willing to shell out $500+ is probably hoping not to share. Heck, I wouldn't want to share at that price! ;)

All told, I probably spent about £1500 last year going to that con, including airfare from the UK, my share of the hotel room for the week, the con ticket, extras (not many) and eating.

I spent less when I went to New York to see the Yankees, even though the ticket to that game cost more than the con ticket did and I came back with twice as much luggage as I arrived in the US with.

Okay in Burbank the up-close session went to chairty, did it not? And this??? ick

If I was rich..yeah, I'd do it. But I couldn't even afford the con ticket, let alone the rest. But I will read every report, look at pics and videos with glee of those who do go. And wish them a good time.

What's the betting pool on more beard, less beard...or gasp clean shaven Joe? vs Burbank? :-P

*hopes he has news of being cast in something*

Yeah, went on a boat ride out to the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island, which was cool. Went up to the top of the Empire State Building. That was fantastic - great views. Went on one of those open-top bus tours around the downtown area. Plus I stayed in Brooklyn - I actually liked staying outside of Manhattan, but I can understand why some people prefer to stay there.

And best of all, I met one of my long-time online friends...

Oh, for that kind of money, he had better show up clean-shaven! ;) Well, he can show up in whatever, but he looks SO much better when he shaves. Sigh... I really hope he gets a new show or movie soon.

Glad you got to see those sites. I just got to see Statue of Liberty etc this past year when a friend came to town, otherwise, hadn't gotten the chance!

I really enjoyed it and I hope to come over again at some point. I'd like to catch a game at the new stadium and there are a few other things I'd like to see. My mother has been going on about a trip later this year because she's never been.

I'd actually like to see more of the state as well as just the city. And of course, get up to Cooperstown...
