TPTB sometimes don't think intelligently when they make certain changes; they go "we need *this* to draw in such and such a demographic." Can't recall Paula Cassidy (was she the one they shot in the head?) but like you, I've grown to like Torri as Weir and hope she stays and hope the writers develop her properly.
