I've ranted on list and over at GW, but what it boils down to for me is why are they trying to fix something that isn't broken? I honestly believe the ratings drop is because of Skiffy's idiocy in breaking up their Friday night Trifecta. Following that, it's the writers who aren't able to write capably for the characters. Try getting rid of some faces there. Replacing Carson isn't going to do anything but piss off a good portion of the fanbase--fans who are the reason he was added as a regular in the first place. Do they think so little of us now?
The rest of it is just... meh. I hung on the fringes of fandom for a long time; Carson and Rodney and the team are what's brought me out into it again. And I really, really, really wish I'd stayed in the fringes, because by the time they're done, it's not going to be the show I've fallen in love with.
IF I thought they could pull off a great character arc for Carson, having him face some fallout for his actions and decisions, grow and change and overcome some things? Oh, I'd be all for it. But after ten years of SG1 and two and a half of SGA, I just don't trust them.
