I'm so thankful that the Wolf techies do get the lighting of the stage right most of the time. They seem very good a lighting whatever stage and backdrop they set up in that big hall/suite at the Heathrow Thistle, a couple of times they've used a smaller suite with a lot lower ceiling at the same hotel it hasn't been so good but still workable; very much the same at events I've attended of their's at the Radisson at Heathrow, large hall lighting okay, small room they just went with the room lighting which combined with the mirrored walls was a nightmare (thus my not very good photos of Michael Shanks & Chris Judge).
When Level 3 used the big hall/suite at the Heathrow Thistle they got the lighting wrong especially on the first day. Also the people who set the stage up also didn't know how the staging worked so set it too low (one of the Wolf techies was attending just as a con goer and gave them the hint). They did tweak the lighting a bit (but it still wasn't up to Wolf's standard) and by the second day had raised the staging up so we could see the guests better.
One thing I do hate is the rest of the hall/room lighting being turned off almost completely, makes changing memory cards and batteries a nightmare (I now take a torch just in case) but can also be slightly embarrassing - I almost walked into Colin Cunningham on the Friday of the Level 3 con. They had announced all the other guests and I had been down the centre aisle to take photos so I headed back to my seat quite a long way back in the hall, and as quickly as I could. As I was trying to work out where my end of row seat was in the gloom, I nearly walked into this person just stood in the middle of the aisle. This person must have seen me coming towards them, backlite by the lights at the stage end of the hall but I couldn't see them until it was almost too late. I found my seat just where the person was standing and sat down, seconds later Colin Cunningham was announced as a surprise guest and I was horrified when I released I almost walked into him. At the Gatecon UK picnic lunch I apologized for nearly walking into him.

Glad you like the photos.
